Default One good thing about JJ that I liked was.....

...he seemed to be an understanding son. Damn, with all of this Good Times talk lately on here, I went home after work and put in season 2. I was watching the episode of him being in jail and was thinking about it. At first he was disappointed about not receiving those art supplies as a gift, but soon he understood. He knew that they were poor and they couldn't really afford everything in life. Most kids would be pissed if they didn't get everything they wanted. But not JJ. Once James and Florida explained everything to him, about their credit not being up to par, he wasn't mad anymore. Much like the time when he was chosen to paint that mural for the bank. What did he do with the money? He could've spent it, but he donated everything into the "Evans Family Pot".

He was forced to donate that money to the family because Thelma needed it for college

. Retro, you kill me. But you know what: You've got a point. You see the look on Florida's face after Michael asked JJ what he was gonna do with the mural money. She acted as if she knew JJ was going to give it to them.

Thelma went to city college. She was attending during the episode of JJ losing his job and meeting up with some past acquaintences at the unemployment office. Remember she volunteered to drop out of school but JJ started working for his rackateering friends and missed the bust by hiding in the closet.
