Was George Jefferson similar to James Evans when it came to losing his Temper? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

There was a discussion on the good times board about james being very unpleasant to watch for some as a child. Would george jefferson be in this category also with his temper?

In a way, yes, but James wasn't racist. George was outrageous in a lot of ways, while the fact that James was still living in relative poverty made him a bit sadder of a character.

James did scare me when I was a little kid. I used to think he was a scary and mean man. James probably wouldn't think twice about pounding someone down into the cement. When George lost his temper you probably could've just picked him up and threw him over the balcony.

George was definitely more of a yeller- a short sh** with a quick temper. James yelled too, but one definitely had the feeling that more was to come from Mr. James Evans and to clear the hell out fast. I always got the feeling James was always holding back from jumping all over someone(which in itself was funny- his mean looks could kill). George ranted and raved a lot more but was quited easier.

I guess the one thing James has over George was throwing that Chair against the Wall-lol

George when he yelled was funnier. It was never in a serious situation, When James yelled, it was in a depressing situation. Sort of quoting what JamesAnthony said.

when George lost his temper it was mostly funny. except when he got mad in the KKK episode; that was serious. James on the other hand seemed to be hostile, mostly due to his financial situation, but on the other hand, even if James and the family had a better life (he should have gone to Alaska!!!!!) he would still remain that person. It probably wouldn't be as much as it, but situations would still arise where James would still get real angry.

Think of George's face, now think of James' face, ok got those two images in your head...good....now imagine both of them very very angry...James is mad at Thelma for losing her virginity and George is mad at not making more money this year than he did last year...which one scares you more?????
