Have you ever HAD to eat something that you really didn't want to? If so, what was the circumstance or food involved?
Once when I was about five, my family were guests at somebody else's cottage for the weekend and my mother was bragging about how good these baked beans she made were and insisted she make them for both families for Saturday's dinner. She spent several days soaking the beans and then simmering them on the Friday. Saturday morning dad packs the whole family into the Buick - three kids, ages 5, 11 & 14 and a cocker spaniel into the backseat. I don't know what mom was thinking, but she put the beans in a covered roasting pan on the floor of the backseat of the car. The lid ended up getting knocked off and the dog fell alseep IN the pan. It didn't help when I stepped in them afterwards. It was the only food we had to eat and she sat and picked dog hair out of them, smoothed out my footprint and FORCED the whole family to eat them anyway!!! We were threatened with our lives if we let on to the other family (mom, dad and two boys) what had happened so when we ate them, we couldn't look like we were grossed out even! Needless to say, my appetite for them waned after that!!! |

OH..MY..GOD!!
I would die right there and then if I had to eat that. That's so horrible. Well..I wasn't forced but I wanted to try Apple pie because it smelled really good. Well..when I ate it I practically gagged on it. No more pie for me.

Wasn't forced to...but I had some breaded shrimp one day for lunch at school many years ago (1993). A few hours later, I got food poisoning and was sick for a day or two. That ended my relationship with seafood -- to this day, I cannot look at shrimp or any form of seafood without being reminded of that incident. Euuuuwwwwwww.
![]() And then about 8 years ago in 1997, my dad made this REALLY strange casserole. I never did find out what the name was -- all I knew was it had tator tots on the top, sprinkled with melted shredded cheese and below the tots were beans, tuna and some other ungodly combinations. My dad FORCED me to eat that NASTY casserole. I ended up emptying the contents of my stomach in the bathroom immediately after supper! That was NASTY!

Well, about two weeks ago I ran out of chocolate.
For me, that's a food disaster.

Where to begin? Hmmm KFC food poisoning? ( True story.,..wont touch the stuff now )
The overcooked chicken fingers? ahhhh.....The first and only time we went to "The Red Barn"!!! The red barn, for those of you ( Americans for examp and anyone under 40 ), was Canadas home version of McDs...well, insofar as they made fast food and the menus were similar. Now, apparently, the people who came up with this concept figured that as long as you had a cool building ( looked vaguely like a glass barn ) and food shaped puppets in your ads, you were laughing...unfortunately, they forgot to add something called TASTE!!! It was about 11 pm, and wed been travelling all night..summer trip, my Dad loved to drive 10-12 hours without a stop, so finally Mom said ...LETS EAT NOW, so, we stopped at the red barn...and lived to regret it. EVERYTHING was awful...the burgs the chicken, it was all barfmakingly bad...even the hot chocolate got thrown out!!! ( it tasted like hot chalky water ) Fortunately for anyone with a stomach, the chain died soon after it began, though, even today, sometimes i pass a barn shaped donut shop and smile , knowing that in the 70s, that was a "ptomaine Palace" , AKA a Red Barn!

hot dogs.. i can't eat them without making literal gag reflexes.
i obsessively shared this tale with everyone on here last year, but about five years ago on the discovery channel or something i saw a show that showed some lions killing a cow.. then a few days later i went to a restaurant and ordered an enchilada, and the cheese looked exactly like the cow guts on that show. i knew it was just cheese but i couldn't eat it without feeling sick. and then there was the peanut butter and jelly sandwich cereal. a long time ago me and my friend cut up peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and put them in a bowl with milk. oh god.. |

Ah yes, the good old Red Barn - Home of The Barf Burger!! You still see the "ghosts" of them - usually now converted into motorcycle dealerships!! And KFC - guaranteed a stomach ache a few hours later followed up with the runs the next day! Now that's good eatin'!
