Timex Social Club vs Club Nouveau - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Of these groups which is better? I know Timex Social Club only released one album, but I love the song "Rumors."

By the way, what is the history between the two groups? Did Timex Social Club change their name to Club Nouveau.? Or are they both two different groups? And what was the reason for the falling out between the Timex Social Club and their producer Jay King?

All i know is that Timex Social Club & Club Nouveau are both from Sacramento, California. Rumors is the only song i've heard by Timex Social Club. I love that song too. I think there was only one dude in Timex Social Club. I might be wrong. Timex Social Club & Club Nouveau aren't the same group & they didn't have the same group members.

When I was little, I used to think Club Nouveau sang "Rumours".

Anyhoo, I don't know who's better as they both shared the same producer (Jay King) and both appeared to have peaked with their respective debuts. King produced Timex Social Club, but left to form Club Nouveau.

TSC had one huge hit, and a less successful follow-up "Thinking About You", which kind of sounds like CN's "Why You Treat Me So Bad". CN had more hits with "Lean On Me", "Situation #9", the aformentioned "Why You Treat Me So Bad" and "Jealousy".

I personally liked "Why You Treat Me So Bad" a lot more than "Lean On Me". Nice to see that the song finally went top 10 sixteen years later, but sad that it had to go top 10 as the sample of a Jennifer Lopez track.

I can't stand when the sampled tune gets out-ranked by the new hit. As long as they get their royalties, I can't be mad at that. Also, I think the Junior M.A.F.I.A. sampled that same song about ten years ago.

Junior Mafia didn't sample Why You Treat Me So Bad. Puff Daddy sampled it for his song Satisfy You with R Kelly. The Luniz also sampled it for their hit song I Got 5 On It.
