Default Who Else Feels This Way About GT and James' Death??

I know Good Times is just a TV Show, but it is a little hard to watch the episodes with him in syndication knowing his future demise of being killed in the car accident. Don't get me wrong I still enjoy the episodes with John Amos very much and I still watch them. But when I watch it I think to myself especially when I see his scenes with Florida and the chemistry they had what a shame it is that he will be killed. He struggled and struggled to provide for his family and then the accident happens right when the family is about to move for a better life. Then the other seasons without him are watchable but knowing that James is deceased is really unpleasant to me. I know these things can happen in real life but it is still very unpleasant.

Default I know how you feel.

I am like that with some TV shows. One of them is Knots Landing. Black Actress Lynne Moody is one of my favorites she gets killed off at the end of her third season there. I love watching eps with her early on but as time progresses, it's a downer for me. I don't ever remember seeing her on Good Times, though.

Same here- I always kind of dread knowing that the end of the third season will be the upcoming death of James Evans(John Amos). It's really strange watching the episode "Rent Party", because that's the last one he was ever on. Then later, after his funeral, the apartment seems so strange and empty without his presence. He made quite an impression in those 2 1/2 years!

I use to hate the John Amos episodes because as a kid, he scared me. Now that I am older, I really do appreciate what he meant to the show.

But just think everyone, imagine how hard it would have been watching Good Times after James was killed off during it's original run. Just picture you being the age you are right now gettin ready to watch the next ep after the Big Move part 2 on CBS the following. It would have been very arkward. But for us who discovered the show in syndication never knew why james was gone so it didn't have the same effect on us.

That's weird - I had the same thought rewatching them this weekend. During its initial run, I didn't care for him - he seemed kinda scary (why, I don't know - he was a very loving husband and father) and I didn't care that he had left, when I watched it this time, I didn't care much for the shows after his death and realized what a nice character he did play.

(Same with Ward Cleaver - as a kid, I thought he was mean, as an adult myself now, I see he was a great father).

WOULD YOU SAID ABOUT JAMES DEATH MAKES SENSE
MY QUESTION IS WAS THAT A PLANNED REACTION OR UNPLANNED BY THE WRITTERS OF THE SHOW

WHO KNOWS

ITS ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT COULD KEEP VIEWERS OR MAKE MANY WHO WATCH THE SHOW STOP WATCHING

INTERESTING

I feel the same way. Watching the James episodes is kind of surreal.
