Early in Unsolved Mysteries' first season, they showed a segment on Harold and Thelma Swain, who were both murdered in a church back in 1985 during a bible study group session.
My copy of the segment had one of those text updates saying that authorities finally had enough evidence to charge a man named Dennis Arnold Perry. I got the tape that had the segment nearly two years ago and at the time, I did a search on the Internet about the case, but could only find one article from early 2000 when Perry was charged with the murders. I couldn't even find out if he was convicted. http://www.injusticebusters.com/04/Perry_Dennis.shtml Thanks to this website, I now know that Perry was convicted in February of 2003. It even says that it was a UM viewer who contacted the police and said that Perry looked like the composite shown in the segment (which one, I wonder? They showed several). But this site is stating that justice was not served and that Perry is innocent. An interesting note is that the glasses that Robert Stack handled in the segment (Stack handling evidence was a very cool thing from the early seasons) were among the many pieces of evidence that have since gone missing. |
