Question What Happened to Carl???????

I was just wondering, does anyone have a clue as to why the character of Carl was never heard from again? Florida returned from Arizona and no one mentions Carl???? I have always thought that I missed something in an episode but now that I am watching the marathon, I don't see any mention of him???? Did they think we would never ask or wonder what happened??? This couldn't happen nowadays, there would surely be some kind of explanation.

florida did mention Carl's name in the first episode of season 6, she told michael that her and carl had bought a certain gift for him. I didn't see the point of his name being mentioned if his absence wasn;t going to be explained

Florida came home for Thelma's wedding and there was really no explanation of Carl .(Whether he lived or died or they separated.)

So I think the writers were assuming the fans would know that he eventually died. Maybe they didn't announce that Carl died because they already killed off James.

Its possible they didn't want to make a big deal out of killing off another father figure. I haven't seen these episodes in a long time but I seem to recall that when Esther Roll left the series they wrote her out by having her and Carl move to another location that was better suited for his health. Then when she came back without him it was probably easy to just not mention him.

She must have left the ghetto when her and Carl left. Why did she come back and why didn't she take her kids with her?

That was weird, considering how overprotective she was of them.

Default as far as i remember carl was never mentioned again

when florida left with carl he was never mentioned again when she came back for the last season her character didn't seem the same to me it all seemed like a last attempt to save the show and it didn't work.

Florida wanted them to come to Arizona. Remember when J.J was on the phone and he told Thelma and Michael that she wants them all to come to Arizona? Then J.J told her he can;t go because of his job, Thelma told her that she couldn;t go because she had to finish school or something. So Michael was on his way to Arizona and then when he was about to leave, he turned around and said he wanted to stay with everybody else. So that's the explanation for Florida being in Arizona without her kids.

Its not much of one since the whole purpose of the show was getting out of the ghetto. I read that Esther Rolle wasn't to happy with the way Florida just left her kids either. That may have been one of the reasons she decided to come back.
