is my best guess. The episode guide seems to suggest it - May 10, 1989
Reports on the 50-year search for a Native American gold mine in New Mexico; the hunt for a missing South Carolina teenager; and the search for a North Carolina doctor embroiled in a custody battle with his wife. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now I know that Keri Lynn Nixon was from New York but "doppleganger" Keri showed up in South Carolina and that was the focus of the segment to identify this mystery girl who gave her name as "Keri Lynn Nixon". Crystal Dawn is still trying to identify the "North Carolina Doctor" - Any luck Crystal? Later. |

No luck Dante. I also want to know more about a story on an early UM that says "the search for the stranglers of a Washington mother and daughter". I first thought of Joe Smith but he was from Vegas and it was 3 people he killed. Ring any bells???
Justin, this isn't the original air date but might be a clue if its her they're talking about: Episode #84 Included: an update on a 1988 story about the murder of an Arkansas man; and repeat segments, also from 1988, on a UFO encounter and a missing teenager. |

It apparently doesn't list when it originally aired. Episode #98 which aired on 11/7/90 is the one about the NKOTB update. RS says at the beginning that they first told us the story of Keri Lynn Nixon 2 years ago so it aired sometime in 1988.

The problem is that I have the Lifetime version of this episode (Nixon), and they did the mixing and matching again. On Lifetime's episode, we get the following (descriptions I typed for inventory):
Treasure: The legend of a treasure burried beneath mountains in New Mexico that was allegedly discovered in 1937, and later confiscated by the U.S. government. Missing Persons: The search for Keri Lyn Nixon, a New York teenager who mysteriously vanished in 1987 during a trip to the local grocery store. Includes update. Unexplained Death: Theories swirl around the unsolved 1982 murder of appliance repairman Perman Gilbert. The 5/10/1989 episode matches except for the fact that it is about the "the hunt for a missing South Carolina teenager". I thought Nixon hailed from Osable Forks, New York. |

Just re-read DD's post which explained the South Carolina reference. Disregard my previous post.
