Why was Roseanne so pro gay and lesbian? Her Boss Leon was Gay Her friend/Co Worker Nancy was a Lesbian even towards the end of the show they had her mom become a lesbian. Not to mention the infamous kiss Roseanne got in the gay bar.

Roseanne's sister in real life is a lesbian and plus Roseanne herself got her start in gay comedy clubs. Roseanne herself credits the gay and lesbian community as her first audience. I'm glad 'Roseanne' touched on homosexuality, when other sitcoms backed away from the issue.

In the finale, she even made Jackie a lesbian. It was too much in my opinion.

Don't you think you are overreacting(again)? teddybare asked a question and you jump all over them. They never made any reference towards gay bashing yet you just assumed that is what was in his/her mind. And you want the rest of the public to have an open mind towards gays? Yet here you are jumping to conclusions yourself. |

If he had said it differently, I wouldn't have gotten ticked off, but the way he worded and asked the question was in a negative light. If someone worded it around like "I notice that Roseanne was really pro-gay and lesbian", it would've been so much differently. But the way he asked WHY she was pro-gay sounded like he thought it was a bad thing that she supports GLBT rights. But no offense, is what I did any worse than getting offended when people attack the fundamentalist religious 2% and claiming it's bashing all Christians? |

Geez Louise you ask one innocent question about the Roseanne show and you get treated like your a massagonist towards gays and lesbians.
Not every heterosexual who believes in god is a gay and lesbian hater so just chill out I meant no ill will to anyone. I was just asking a question. |

And you just proved my point on your overreacting. Where you not the one who started the thread about how you don't like it when people try to tell you what you are think or how you feel? You are doing the same thing. If he had come out and said "WHY was Roseanne so pro *** or pro homo" then you would have an issue. But you are just assuming the worst. Anytime anyone says anything negitive about the gay way of life you automatically assume they are homophobes or gay bashers. You want people to except you as a gay person even though they may not like your lifestyle, then maybe you need to realize that just because they don't approve of it doesn't mean that they hate you. |

Well actually the only gay people on the show at the end was Leon, Nancy and Jackie. If you remember correctly she said that she just made her mom gay in the book that she was writing to make her a stronger character. When infact Jackie was the gay one and in the book that she was writing she always made Jackie have men problems. A lot of people have gay friends and relatives, it's no big deal every one has different lives that they live.

If it weren't for roseanne I don't think Ellen would have ever came out and shows like Queer as Folk or Will and Grace would ever had been made. I think the woman.
