TV Discovery Health Channel Special

I watched a special yesterday on Discovery Health Channel called Amazing Babies. It was six
stories with a connecting theme-babies born under extreme circumstances. My personal favorite
was a story in the small town of Decatur, Arkansas, where a baby was born in a car after Officer
Jeannie Yates pulled the father over after he was going 80 in a 35 zone. Officer Yates first
suspected he was a dangerous criminal and she ordered him out of the vehicle at gunpoint and
then told him to go to the back of the car and place his hands on the trunk. The guy then told
Officer Yates that his wife's water had broke and she had to go to the hospital. Officer Yates
soon decided he was telling the truth and helped his wife deliver their baby girl. Officer Yates
later said she was proud that for once she helped bring a life into the world instead of seeing
a person die.

I like the Discovery Channel - it has lots of really interesting stories on it. And I like the medical ones in particular - a lot of them are really inspiring.

Thumbs up Great story!

That's a wonderful and heartwarming story. It's always nice to hear when babies delivered by policemen or policeman. They must receive special training for that. I'll bet she gets a special award for that.

Hats off to Officer Yates.

The birth of a baby is the most amazing thing to witness. I don't understand why the cop would draw her gun though. Why, because he was speeding?

lol

Anyway, I just watched two episodes of Baby, Baby. I've never seen it before, actually, but it's pretty interesting.

That's a nice story, about what the officer did

Unfortunately it seems like the negative news stories always get more coverage and interest in than the good news stories.

I like the baby stories, but for personal reasons, I usually find them difficult to watch.

that story is almost sickening to me with the way the office drew the gun but then she's some hero because she helped delivery the baby. talk about a jerk police officer. hey you're speeding, i better point this gun at you.

I watched The Critical Hour on there one night. It's amazing what ER doctors and nurses can do. I'd buckle under pressure.

Yeah, I wondered that too. I agree with Jeff...she's automatically a hero, yet she coulda killed the guy for 45 over? I doubt he acted all criminal like.

The guy was not only speeding, but driving in a manner that threatened to endanger people
on that Arkansas highway. He could have possibly killed his wife with his wreckless driving,
regardless of his good intentions. He then would not have a baby and possibly could have
been facing two counts of vehicular manslaughter. Officer Jeannie Yates saved him from possibly ruining his life.

i wonce read in the Weekly World News about an AMAZING BABY that was in a car accident with her parents - the parents were trapped in the wreckage and the baby was able to LIFT the car off of them and PULL them to safety before the car burst into flames. I believe they said it was because the AMAZING BABY was full of adrenaline, or maybe it was Sugar Pops, I forget which one.
