Question Theme song

Ok, not a major issue, but which version of the theme song is your favorite? The first season's opener, or the one heard beginning with the second season? I love the first year's theme, because it seemed to rock a bit more than the subsequent version(s). Just check out the drums! I have a friend who's in his 20's and when we were watching an episode from the 1st year, he said he never realized how cool theme song was- it was definitely the drums and rock-jazzy music!

The first season's theme is the best. It was very smoothing and soft, just the way I like it. It was kind of like Newhart's theme song in a way.

Hi. Does anyone know why it was changed. I Just noticed the 1st season song today and i loved it. I like how it starts. That music and soft tune is so 70's. I found out it was in the 1st season only and 2 through 7 was the 2nd. Does anyone know. Of course I love the 2nd one too. It was the only one i really knew but i agree with you about the 1st season. I wish someone would do a nice update similar to this. The joan jett is good but too modern and rocky. I want to hear the original redone and with a man again. I also today paid attention to Sonny Curtis voice and he has such a beautiful voice. WIsh he had done more songs like this.

My guess as to why the theme changed is because Mary had pretty much "made it after all" on her own, so the lyrics were changed slightly to reflect that. Notice the first year states "you MIGHT just make it after all," while next year's theme is more assured that "you're GONNA make it after all."

All in all, I think I like the music from year one the best! I'll have to see what other songs Sony Curtis may have done.

Before reading the lyrics on this site I always thought the phrase was, "...who can take a nothing date...". Am I the only one who thought that? I read where the word was 'day' not 'date' and now when I hear the song it does sound more like 'day'.

Pam,
I too thought it was "nothing date..." Oh well, you learn something new all the time!

I thought the phrase "You can have a town" was... "You can never tell!" (why don't you take it etc) - I guess it fits and makes sense... hmmmmm - we could probably re write the entire theme so what we though it was...
