Default I want to clear something up right now

What is Al Lewis' real birthdate?

April 30th, 1910 or April 30th, 1923.

His sons say that the 1910 birhtdate is something Al came up with. They say the real birthdate is the April 30th, 1923.

I heard or read somewhere that he was 42 when he played Grandpa for the first time. So that statement would make 1923 right (with the age 42 being approximately.)

That's what I thought. He looked young on Car 54, Where Are You?, so I knew he wasn't in his 50's.

I don't know, but a lot of things he says about himself are false.

He was really born April 30th 1923, He does not have a degree in child psychology, his own name "Al Lewis" is even flase, his real name is Albert Meister.

Yes he is. Very foul mouthed in real life also (he's apparently a favorite of Howard Stern's).

But he is a great activist in real life! He stands up for civil rights, and believes in rights for all people.

He's still alive, right?

If he is, he definately is in his 80s. Incidently, anyone ever eat in his restaurant? My mom and dad did once before I was around. I woulda killed to meet him! My mom and dad meet a star before me, who is ambitious (very) to become one.

Hey, TV DVD Fan, I see in your avatar, it says "The Best of Bob Newhart". They're not going to start releasing Bob Newhart as "Best ofs", are they? I much prefer the season sets.

Something strange, though...
The website "wikipedia.org" and a few other websites say he was a circus performer in the late 1920s.
