Thanks to http://retrosheet.org/, I have been able to find box scores of all the baseball games I have been to. It turns out I have seen a lot of famous players. If a player didn't do too well in a game, I only put his name. (Hey, it rhymes) Padres players will be in black text while opposing team players are in their respectable colors (i.e. red for Cincinnati Reds players) If you can't read it, highlight it.
Here are what the stats mean: 2B = double 3B = triple HR = home run SB = stolen base W = win SV = save K = strikeout BS = blown save L = loss H = hit 5/10/1994 (Reds 5, Padres 0) Barry Larkin: 2-5, 2B, 3B Kevin Mitchell (1989 NL MVP): 1-2 HR Tony Fernandez Bret Boone Jose Rijo (1990 World Series MVP): 7 IP, 4 K, W Tony Gwynn Mark Davis (1989 NL Cy Young Award winner) Trevor Hoffman 8/26/1996 (Phillies 7, Padres 4) Scott Rolen: 2-4, 2B, RBI Rickey Henderson: 1-3, SB Tony Gwynn John Flaherty: Ejected by the home plate umpire for excessive arguing and foul language following a play at the plate that went in favor of the Phillies. 8/12/1997 (Padres 6, Expos 4) Vladimir Guerrero Rickey Henderson: 3-5, HR Greg Vaughn Trevor Hoffman: SV 7/23/1998 (Padres 3, Diamondbacks 0) Tony Gwynn Ken Caminiti (1996 NL MVP): HR Joey Hamilton: 8 IP, 10 K, W Trevor Hoffman: 1 IP, 2 K, SV 8/19/1998 (Expos 3, Padres 1) Vladimir Guerrero: HR Dustin Hermanson: W, HR Sterling Hitchcock: 8 IP, team record-tying 15 K 6/26/1999 (Padres 13, Rockies 6) Dante Bichette Larry Walker Vinny Castilla Todd Helton Mike DeJean: Ejected with Rockies manager Jim Leyland for arguing balls and strikes. Matt Clement: W Umpire Tom Hallion was suspended 3 games by the NL for bumping CO catcher Jeff Reed in apparent anger, which is believed to be the first suspension given to an umpire. In protest, claiming that the league shouldn't be allowed to suspend umpires, numerous umpires announced they would resign on September 1 that same year. 7/10/1999 (Padres 5, Rangers 4) Ivan Rodriguez (2003 NLCS MVP) Rusty Greer: 2-4 Juan Gonzalez (1996 and 1998 AL MVP): HR Rafael Palmeiro: 2-4, HR John Wetteland (1996 World Series MVP): BS, L One thing I will always remember about this game is an incident between Gonzalez and a fan. The Rangers' bullpen catcher wrote on a baseball, "Here's your ****ing ball, Redneck" (Rusty Greer's nickname) and intended to give it to Greer. But Gonzalez, unaware of what was written on it, threw it into the right-field stands for the fans, which was about 20 rows down from where I was sitting. The Rangers later apologized and sent the fan a baseball autographed by Gonzalez. 7/20/1999 (Padres 2, Angels 1) Darrin Erstad: 2-4, leadoff HR Mo Vaughn (1995 AL MVP) Chuck Finley: 7.2 IP, 6 K Tony Gwynn Trevor Hoffman: SV The Padres took the lead when Angels reliever Mark Petkovsek's fake throw to third and first slipped out of his hand, allowing a Padres baserunner to score from third. The game was also at Edison Field and not at Qualcomm Stadium. 9/1/1999 (Cubs 1, Padres 0) Mark Grace Sammy Sosa: HR Tony Gwynn Sterling Hitchcock: 7 IP, 9 K 4/12/00 (Padres 4, Diamondbacks 2) Trevor Hoffman: SV 4/29/00 (Braves 7, Padres 4 in 12 innings) Andruw Jones: 3-run HR Chipper Jones: 3-5 Andres Galaragga: 3-run HR Javy Lopez This was the infamous John Rocker's first game since serving a suspension for his disparaging remarks in a Sports Illustrated article about minorities in New York. The racist comments would eventually lead to the downfall of his career. 6/17/00 (Padres 3, Reds 1) Barry Larkin Ken Griffey Jr.: HR Dante Bichette Adam Eaton: 7.2 IP, 7 K Tony Gwynn: 1-1, RBI Trevor Hoffman: SV 8/19/00 (Padres 4, Expos 3 in 11 innings) Milton Bradley Jose Vidro: 2-5 Vladimir Guerrero Javier Vazquez 10/4/00 (Padres 4, Dodgers 0) Garry Sheffield: 2-2 Shawn Green Adrian Beltre Ryan Klesko: 2-4, HR, 2B Adam Eaton: 6 IP, 3 K Trevor Hoffman: SV Dodger manager Davey Johnson was ejected for arguing a balk call. It would turn out to be his last game, as he was subsequently fired. 6/17/01 (Padres 11, Mariners 9) Ichiro Suzuki: 3-5, SB John Olerud: 2-3, 3-run HR Edgar Martinez Kazuhiro Sasaki Ryan Klesko: 3-run HR Phil Nevin: 4-5, HR, 3 RBIs Bubba Trammell: 2-4, 2 HR, 4 RBI Woody Williams: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 6 R (4 earned), 9 K Trevor Hoffman: SV 6/21/01 (Giants 8, Padres 3) Jeff Kent: 2-4 Eric Davis Rickey Henderson 5/18/02 (Mets 5, Padres 2) Roberto Alomar: 2-run HR Mo Vaughn Mike Piazza Armando Benitez: SV 6/19/02 (Padres 3, Red Sox 2) Rickey Henderson Johnny Damon Nomar Garciaparra Trot Nixon Jason Varitek Trevor Hoffman: SV Boston SP Frank Castillo was ejected. It started when a balk was called, advancing a runner to 2nd base. When the run scored on a double, Castillo, furious that the balk led to the tying run being scored and blaming umpire Bill Welke, rushed to the umpire and spiked his foot in a rage and was tossed. He had to be restrained by several teammates. He was later suspended six games and fined an undisclosed amount for his actions. 6/24/03 (Rockies 5, Padres 2) Todd Helton Larry Walker: 2-4, HR 9/6/03 (Astros 10, Padres 4) Craig Biggio: HR Morgan Ensberg: 4-4, 2 2B, 4 RBI Jeff Bagwell Jeff Kent Lance Berkman Orlando Merced Brad Lidge: W Billy Wagner: SV Phil Nevin: 3-4, 2B, HR, 4 RBIs 9/26/03 (Padres 5, Rockies 0) Todd Helton Brian Giles: 2-4, SB Adam Eaton: W, 7 IP, 4 K Last Padre victory and shutout at Qualcomm Stadium 5/14/04 (Cubs 6, Padres 1) Sammy Sosa: HR (548th of his career, tying Mike Schmidt) Moises Alou: 3-4 Aramis Ramirez Derrek Lee: 2-4 Greg Maddux: 8 IP, 5 H, 4 K, W This was the first game I attended at Petco Park 6/18/04 (Blue Jays 3, Padres 2) First game between the Padres and the Blue Jays 7/28/04 (Padres 9, Giants 4) Barry Bonds 8/1/04 (Dodgers 2, Padres 1 in 12 innings) Robin Ventura: Game-winning HR Eric Gagne: 3 IP, 2 K, W 8/7/04 (Pirates 3, Padres 1) Kip Wells: 8 IP, 4 H, 5 K, W Jose Mesa: SV 9/04/04 (Rockies 8, Padres 2) Tony Gwynn's #19 got retired in a pregame ceremony 9/24/04 (Padres 6, D-Backs 4) Nothing special 4/19/05 (Padres 5, Giants 2) Omar Vizquel: 2-4, 3B Trevor Hoffman: SV 5/14/05 (Padres 3, Marlins 2) Juan Pierre Carlos Delgado: 1-3, 2B Miguel Cabrera: Mike Lowell Jake Peavy: 7 IP, 8 K Trevor Hoffman: SV 6/12/05 (White Sox 8, Padres 5) Scott Podsednik: 2-6 Aaron Rowand: GW 3-run HR off Trevor Hoffman in the 10th Carl Everett: 3-6, 2B, HR Frank Thomas Phil Nevin: 3-run HR |
