You hate horror movies but sit through the beginning scene of "Jeepers Creepers" just to see how similar it is to the Marilyn DePue story.

I just did that 2 weeks ago.

But back to the topic - you consider visiting the actual location of a mystery featured. (Or considering taking a $500 bet to go to the Blind River Rest stop.)

1. Look for the Lost Dutchman or Babe Noss Mines in New York state.
2. See if you're an inheritant to any of the "Lost Heirs" segments.
3. See if you're related to any of the "Lost Loves" people.
4. When riding something as unexciting as a ferry, you expect a bearded man wearing coveralls to be standing beside you on the steps.
5. You're afraid of bringing a bunk bed into your house.
6. You're afraid of seeing a man, with a mustache, on one of your photos that you get developed.

...you compare its theme songs/background tracks to the keyboard playing of various symphonic death metal and black metal bands(great way to describe the music to those who've never heard it, and spark some interest), and if you compare UM's footage of forest scenes with certain metal bands' album artwork.

...you watch shows like Cold Case, Law & Order, etc. and think to yourself (or better yet, tell someone), "Hey, I know that case. It was profiled on UM!"...
