Default When a new season of one of your faves is released

When a new season of one of your faves is released: two questions:

1)Do you gear up for it by watching previous seasons before you buy the new one?

2)Do you usually get it the day it comes out or does it depend on whether you have the $$$?

1. I usually try to have a little marathon of the previous season or seasons. However, if it's one of my favorite shows, then I've overwatched the DVDs. Like with "Ellen", I couldn't stand to watch season 1 by the time season 2 came out. Same goes with "Taxi". Yet once I get the next season, then I can get back into the first season. However, with "Monk" I was able to watch the first two seasons alot the week before season 3 came out to get ready.

2. I always get them on the first day they're out. I go crazy if I know they're at the store, and not in my DVD case.

I think the only times I've watched previous seasons right before a new season came out was with Good Times, I rewatched season 1 right before getting season 2 and rewatched season 2 before getting season 3.

I also did it with Soap. I watched season 1 when I first bought it but had season 2 for months without watching it, so I watched the first two seasons right before getting season 3. Since it's heavily based on continuing storylines, it helps to refresh your memory on what happened.

As for when I get them, 95% of the time, I have to have them the day they're released. I always make sure money is set aside for dates when something I want is coming out.

That's the same way I feel. If something that I want is available and I don't have it, I go crazy. I went two days without Flintstones season 3 and was going nuts because I didn't have it as soon as it was available. Seriously, it bothered me. Meanwhile, I only just recently finished the 2nd disc.

I never have a marathon of a TV show right before I get the DVD. I want to savor the moment.

And I ABSOLUTELY MUST have the DVD the day it comes out. For example...Hunter S2 is out today. I MUST have it or I will go crazy.

1)Do you gear up for it by watching previous seasons before you buy the new one?: no

2)Do you usually get it the day it comes out or does it depend on whether you have the $$$?: if it's one of my all time favs, I'll buy it the day it comes out (well, preorder it) whether I have the money or not. I bought Quincy, Dragnet, and Lois and Clark even though I didn't have $100 to spend. That's what credit is for.

All others wait. SBTB- Season 5, The Nanny-Season 1...they'll wait.

it depends on the mood of the show.

Like when I receive Roswell season 3, before I begin, I will most likely go back and revisit the season 2 finale to get me in the mood for it (like when I got season 2, I rewatched the season 1 finale).

But when Seinfeld season 5, or Taxi season 3, or Diff'rent Strokes season 2, or whatever, come out, I'll probably start back up there instead of watching a previous season episode to get me in the mood.

I never really gear up for the release by watching any of the past seasons. But I usually get a show on it's first day if it's one of my absolute favorites. Some have to wait because of money though, for instance, Home Improvement season 2 and Seinfeld season 4 both had to wait a few weeks cause I simply didn't have the funds.

Back when DVD releases were pretty slow, maybe 1 or 2 a month at most, I would rewatch some of my DVDs.

I think I watched my Cheers and Frasier Season 1 DVD five times completely through. With so many DVDs I dont really have time to rewatch as many things. Occassionally I'll pop in a DVD a watch a specific episode, but I haven't rewatched a complete season in over a year.

Same here. I've been dying to rewatch Freaks and Geeks again but always wind up getting caught up in other releases. I've only rewatched specific episodes of shows, like Good Times. What keeps me from rewatching more is a lack of time, as opposed to a lack of desire.

Freaks & Geeks is one of the few series that I have taken time to watch a random episode of. I'm kind of secretive about my DVD collection, don't want people to think I'm too much of a dork. But thats a rare set that I have watched with a few friends, and let them borrow from time to time.

It's one of my best friends' favorite shows, she got the DVD for Christmas.

Question #1 - For me, I normally watch three/four episodes for each one.

It get pretty BORING to watch the same show all day long.

The other day, I watched Different Strokes, Good Times, All In The Family - 3 episodes each.

Question #2 - It depend if I have the money.
