If I recall her name was spelled "Keri". There was an NBC update that said she was apparently spotted in a NKOTB music video. It turned out to not be her but I must admit the likeness was amazing. The 2nd update (the one they now show after her story) shows a picture of a man (can't remember his name) and said he had admitted to raping and killing Keri on the night she disappeared and led authorities to her body.
I couldn't find anything on the net about it. |

Is this the one where the old lady claimed she saw Keri at a campsite with another family?
She said she went up to a little girl, asked her what her named was, and the girl replied, "Keri Lynn Nixon". Either the old lady was lying, the little girl was lying about her name, or there was another little girl with the same name that looked just like the first Keri Lynn.......hmmmmmm....... |

Yes, thats the one. I think the lady was just mistaken, she seemed to be a good samaritan who wanted to help. It did seem very strange that the girl she originally said she seen Keri with didn't recall the meeting because, as RS put it, "she suffered from a memory lapse". Hmmm.

I agree, crystaldawn. I doubt the lady was lying because what would she have to gain for it? Certainly not a cash award or anything. She even made a plea to Keri at the end of the segment to just call her parents to let them know she was O.K., and that didn't need to go home.
Still, it's baffling that the little girl used the name Keri Lynn Nixon when she was introduced and the fact that she looked so much like her. Almost as crazy as the look-a-like in the New Kids on the block concert who not only looked like Keri but also had the exact same number of piercings in her right ear. What are the odds? |

I added the original NBC update to the end of the clip on my site but the Lifetime version has the update that crystal mentions above. The guy wanted to clear his conscience and confessed.
It does make you wonder about the validity of the old woman testimony but I believe she a genuine witness although I doubt the person she saw was actually Keri. The girl from the NKOTB concert video, let's just say the resemblance was uncanny. |

I think nearly 100% that woman was incorrect when she heard the girl say "Kerry Lynn Nixon". First off Lynn is a very common middle name almost as common as Anne. I can think offhand of at least five women portrayed on UM alone with the middle name of Lynn or Lynne.
Second of all when "doppleganger Keri" resurfaced wasn't it in another state far away from where Keri Lynn Nixon actually lived. I know at this point they were looking at it from the point of an abuduction but being a savvy UM viewer I find it odd that if Keri was abducted that her abductor would let her socialize so openly and even use her true name when identifying herself. I just feel the old lady and the girl with "Keri" were either making it up or took leave of their memories or whatever. Later. |

I agree with DarkDante's opinion on the women who claimed that she met KLN (as I mentioned in another thread). What would somebody have to gain by claiming they met her when they didn't? ATTENTION! And people do it all the time. Hell, people confess to crimes they didn't and some end up in prison...all for the notoriety. I've said it once and I'll say it again: Her personal appeal to Keri seemed very creepy to me in hindsight. It's like she claimed to have some connection with Keri that she never had. Even if she really did think she met Keri, what kind of bearing does a virtual stranger have on Keri's wish to return home? It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This might be a little farfetched but I wondered if the girl the lady thought was KLN maybe was in fact a runaway. She could have possibly come from NY state (or passed through) where Keri vanished from and possibly heard that she was missing. She could have used that name when introduced to her so as not to give away her true identity if she was a runaway and didn't want to be found. Just a thought.

I doubt the old woman was lying. She had also mentioned seeing a flyer with Nixon's name and picture. Perhaps the unidentified girl had seen the same flyer, and used the name as either or joke, or to conceal the fact that she herself was also a runaway - although not the real Nixon. |

Would anyone happen to have a recording of the Lifetime copy? I'd really like to see it. Even though I know what it is, I want to watch it.

It's exactly the same as the NBC version on my site except the Lifetime version has a few scenes cut out to make more room for an update and more commercial time.

No, I meant the update about her being killed and the confession. I watched the NBC one on your site. Just wondering if anyone had the update.

I have the murder update. Actually I was watching the NBC version yesterday and noticed something that Lifetime edited out (no doubt to make room for the final update). They mentioned earlier in the segment about receiving a letter from Eutawville, SC about Keri being there. Well the part that Lifetime cut out was RS said they had also received a few letters from Michigan saying the same thing. So that makes it sound more like a hoax just like the person that claimed Judy Himes was in Omaha.
