Default Aunt Effie?

The relationship between Mama and Effie has been debated here for a long time! Harper or Crowley? Well, I don't have the answer but in "Mama's Girl's" Effie definitely refers to Thelma as her sister in law(I just watched that episode!) So she was either married to Thelma's brother(Clyde?) or Carl's brother. The only brother of Carl's that is ever mentioned is Roy who was a seaman and not married. But then again I recall that there was another Roy mentioned in an episode. (I think that he was another brother of Mama's.) Does anybody else recall this referral? I am sure there are 2 Roy's. Ha ha ..........I just wanted to stir things up again! This board has been dead lately!

Then there's the possibility that she was Carl's sister, that's who I've always thought she was.

Yes, could be, but in one episode she referred to herself as Effie Crowley and in another as Harper. I think that the writers got a little mixed up! Yes, I had always believed that she was Carl's sister too! Will the mystery ever be solved?

Question

Did you know that the woman that played Aunt Effie killed herself in real-life? Check it out on the 'net.

Talking

I think that it adds a macabre tone to her episode, don't you?

No, that is untrue. IMDB.com had listed her death a suicide but revised it. It now says that she died of Pakinson's disease in 2002.

Sorry Allison! But after watching "Mama's Girls" again the sister in law thing was brought up again! Inconsistencies in TV scripts drive me crazy!

I asked for CONCRETE EVIDENCE of her passing TWO YEARS AGO, and I have yet to see ANY proof that Dorothy killed herself or died of Parkinson's or whatever-the-hell-she-died-from. It pisses me off that NOBODY has been able to come forward with proof. I STILL say she died in 1996, not 2002.

Why do you think that she died in 96? Did you see that somewhere? I would like to know the truth also! I have found several errors on IMDB.com. They are not reliable. I have been searching the net for any info on her but there seems to be very little!

Also Aunt Effie could have been a Crowly. In the one episode where mama takes tap dancing lessons with Aunt Effie, and they were not allowed to do a recitle(spelling) because of insurance saying they were to old. Mama told Aunt Effice stories of when they were both kids growing up and how good Aunt Effie was at tap dancing. Just watched the episode today that I tape of it years back.

When Themla was that age she didn't know Carl Harper then, so accoriding to that episode Aunt Effie was a Crowley

Good point but being from the same town they could have known each other as girls.
