A three hour tour. BUT THAT 'THREE HOUR TOUR' HAS NOW LASTED CLOSE TO FORTY YEARS, MAKING 'GILLIGAN'S ISLAND' ONE OF THE LONGEST-RUNNING SHOWS IN TELEVISION SYNDICATION... Sherwood Schwartz 2 03 28 Every place I go, a tour guide will point to some island off the coast of Africa, or India or California - you name it. He will point to some little island and say 'that's where they did the pilot for Gilligan's Island. 'SERIES CREATOR SHERWOOD SCHWARTZ ACTUALLY SHOT THE SHOW'S PILOT EPISODE ON THE HAWAIIAN ISLAND OF KAUAI [pron:keh-WUH-ee... just like Hawaii is "heh-WUH-ee"] - DECIDING THE BEACHES OF MOLOA'A BAY [pron:molo-WAH-ah] WERE THE PERFECT SETTING FOR HIS SHIPWRECKED SURVIVORS...
