Okay, many of you know that last year I lived in London. I don't think I ever told you what section I was in, but today I got the scare of my life. I used to live in Bloomsbury, on Taviton Street. Of course we all know what happened in London today, but it turns out that three of these bombs - yes, three - exploded in my old neighborhood.

The closest stations to where I lived were Eustace, Russell Square, and Kings Cross. These were stations I visited literally every day. Russell Square and Kings Cross were both bombed, and a double-decker bus exploded at Tavistock Gardens - only a block away from my dorm. That really scared me. Chances are very good that I knew someone who was injured or killed there, and that terrifies me. This was the neighborhood for the University College of London, where several American students study abroad during the summer. This could so easily have happened to me, I really can't stop shaking.

For some reason, I keep wishing I was there. I know that sounds crazy, but I hate being so far away from it that I can't see any of my friends or help in any way. I know I should be thankful that I'm safely away from it, but I still wish I could be there anyway. Does that make any sense at all?

It makes sense to me, Em. I understand. It's like me wanting to be in New York after 9/11. I didn't have anybody I knew living in the area, but I still felt the need to be there.

I hope all your friends are alright. This is a bad situation all around, and I don't want to listen to the news anymore. I already know what's going to happen, anyway...

It sounds like you are very lucky to be back here. I'd hate to think what might have happened if you still lived there.

I can understand you wanting to be there and make sure all the people you care for are safe. I hope they all are. It was a terrible thing that happened there today.

Yes that makes sense. I was off the day of 9/11 (I worked at a radio station in Manhattan) and just watching everything unfold on tv, I was restless wanting to get back into the city and help.

I was home with a headache that morning and was glued to the t.v.. I watched the 2nd tower come down live. I'll never forget it. And even though I was in a totally different country, I felt the need to get on a plane and go down to see what I could do to help. Its a very normal feeling I think (and it draws us closer together).

Liza, I truly hope no one you know was hurt or killed and that the injured will recover. You have our hearts and prayers with you. In this sick day and age it could happen to any of our cities.

Brits are a strong bunch - London made it through the Blitz in WWII, and I know you'll make it through this.

Thanks guys. Just to keep you updated, I finally heard from my aunt and uncle, they're safe. Of course the bombs went off around morning rush hour, so everyone was going somewhere. I still haven't heard from one of my friends, and I'm really starting to get nervous about her. She lived in the same building as me (the one where 3 bombs went off) and right now all I can do is pray.
