Question Is the character of Francis useless to the plot ?

The whole thing with him being away at military academy is boring, as are the headmaster and his friends. The storylines seem to always revolve around him trying to escape from there, which was funny the first couple times, but is now getting stale. I think the portion of the show dedicated to him takes away from the other brothers who are the true stars. Anyone feel the same ?

I too think it is useless to the plot. What does the military have to do with anything on the show. The only time the military was a vital story line was when they went on the military bombing base. (Which, I thought was very funny)

I think Francis is okay when he's at home with the other 3, but it seems that many of the military school scenes are forced because the producers feel like they have to write him into every show.

I feel that Francis really serves no purpose on the show. His situations in military school are just distracting little fill-in spots. The best thing to do with the character would be to make him a reoccuring one, instead of a regular.

I think having Francis is a great thing! It gives variety to be able to pan out to another set. I heard that the writers are taking Francis out of military school and putting him somewhere else.

well he adds comedy to the show....MITM is anything but lacking in comedy, but I think the scenes are pretty funny.

I think right now with him being in Alaska is kind of interesting just because i am wondering where they are going to go with that storyline, and i as well think that Francis at the military school and all of that was dumb, thou i do admit that when he tried to eat 100 Quacks(Or somethin like that) That it was f'n funny!

Thumbs down

I really hate the scenes with Francis at the military place. They bore me entirely. I don't even see a point for them to add his storylines to the show. He doesn't even live with them. They should only have him on there when he is with the other family members.

To be honest, I enjoy the scenes with Francis at the Military school a lot. I find them to be so funny and entertaining. The scenes with Francis adds a lot of variety to the show. I think they should have a spin-off of Francis and that fat Military lady. . . LOL that would extremely funny!!

Hi, I'm new! ::waves:: I recently started watching MitM and I absolutely love it. Especially the scenes with Francis, who has already become my favorite character (him and Lois, who rocks my world).

As for Francis' plotlines... I agree that they don't add anything to the main storyline, but that's exactly the point, IMO. Francis does the B-plots, which (often) have nothing to do with whatever is happening with Malcolm this week, but are funny nonetheless. Someone else mentioned Francis' stories add variety to the show, and I agree completely.

Love Francis. Keep him there.

Cheers, Hestia.

I'm a 30 year old mother and I think Francis is a doll baby!! He's the kind of boy I used to date in high school. I love his charactor.I think he represents what will become of the other 3 boys if Lois isnt firm with them now and also shows that if you dont fly straight she will eventually send you away!!! Its funny how he can make the other kids do his bidding(for wrstling tix in one ep)and the Quacks/Peeps ep was very funny!!!!!
