The WWE has just released six WWE superstars:
http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/releases Six Superstars Released July 5, 2005 World Wrestling Entertainment has come to agreements on the release of the following Superstars, WWE would like to wish them the best in their future endeavors. * Mark Jindrak * Maven * Shannon Moore * James Yun (Akio) * David Heath (Gangrel) * Billy Kidman ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is very shocking to me that the WWE would announce all these superstars release at one time. Rumor has it that there are more to come including main roster, OVW talent, and backstage personnel. Announcer Marc Lloyd was also released last week. He had worked for the Raw Brand for the last 2 years and served as host of the syndicated weekend show BottomLine. Now on to the six releases. Five of these Superstars were all main roster talent. Gangrel returned to the WWE last September 2004 in an angle with the Undertaker and John Bradshaw Leyfield. He wrestled one match on Smackdown in a one-night only return, but impressed officials and was given a contract sent to OVW for further training. He was suppose to return to TV at some point, but obviously creative found nothing for him and subsequently was released. Now on to the five Main Roster talents: Mark Jindrak - This comes as a shocker due to the fact he was just traded to the Raw Brand last Thursday, which many considered a big move and hopes for a push for Jindrak since he was being buried on Smackdown. I can see his release, but what was the point in trading Jindrak to Raw, only to be released the following week??? Mark Jindrak was most notably known for being a part of Kurt Angle's stable with Luther Reigns during late 2004-early 2005. Jindrak had been with WWE since 2001, but spent two years in OVW. Maven - He has been on the verge of release for quite sometime. Obviously known for winning the first Tough Enough in 2001, really never developed a steady wrestling ability. Recently had been tag teaming with Simon Dean, but Dean's trade to Smackdown obviously sealed Maven's fate. Shannon Moore - Obviously Moore along with 2 other cruiserweights is to make room for the Mexicools, the new cruiserwieght stable. Shannon Moore was always considered a very low card superstar. His most notable success in WWE to me was being the sidekick of Matt Hardy back in 2002-2003. Always used as a jobber in the cruiserweight division. Akio - this one shocks me, I think Akio is the best cruiserweight in the WWE tied with current champ Paul London, there series of matches on Velocity have been stellar, I think any other cruiserweight should have been released over Akio including Nunzio, Spike Dudley or Funaki. Billy Kidman - Kidman was never a favorite of the WWE Brass and had been on the verge of release for quite sometime. Kidman had been considered mainly a jobber since during his WWE run. Most notably known for holding the cruiserweight title and holding the Smackdown tag titles with Paul London last summer. One fact I find ironic is that four of these six releases; Billy Kidman, Akio, Shannon Moore, and Mark Jindrak were four superstars that the WWE got during the WCW buyout in March 2001, obviously the WWE is trying to weed out the WCW talent. |

The Dudleyz are gone now also.
WWE Really doesn't care about their tag divisions anymore, Do they?

If it was for WWE's stupid mistake to break up Miss Jackie & Charlie in December, this wouldn't have happened. They should've released Dawn Marie instead of Rico in the fall

I have read that as many as 30-40 OVW talents are ready for the main roster. With 18 cuts yesterday and 6 on Tuesday, and more expected I think July 2005 was the target for the WWE to clean up there rosters. It seems as if the WWE is going in a new direction with so many Heel turns lately and shaking up the rosters by trading more main event talent in this year's draft.
I think the following superstars will be released before year's end: Raw: Hearthrob Antonio Hearthrob Romeo Danny Basham Eugene Gene Snitsky Ivory Rene Dupree Rob Conway Tajiri Tyson Tomko Val Venis Victoria Smackdown: Al Snow Candice Michelle Doug Basham Funaki Hardcore Holly Michelle McCool Nunzio Scotty 2 Hotty Sharmell Sullivan Simon Dean Steven Richards Steve Romero Sylvain Grenier Torrie Wilson William Regal |

This is why I think these stars will get the pinkslip soon:
Raw: Hearthrob Antonio - The Hearthrobs are one of the worst new tag teams ever, there gimmick is suppose to be a Gay/Pretty Boy gimmick, however we have seen this with Billy and Chuck, Rico and Charlie Haas, and Too Much (Grandmasta Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty). Plus the Hearthrobs are much worse than those teams. The only way to keep these guys is repackage them into singles stars or a new tag team gimmick, but I don't think they are worth the trouble. Hearthrob Romeo - same as above Danny Basham - No one really gave a s h i t about him as a tag wrestler with Doug Basham, and I doubt he will fair any better with a singles run. Eugene - has been out of action since January, and the Eugene gimmick dominated most of 2004 to the point where he would be stale if he returned with the same gimmick. Gene Snitsky - mic work and wrestling skills suck, he will always be tied to Kane and Lita's baby storyline, his run should come to an end, he has been with WWE almost a year and I am surprised he is still around. Ivory - With the WWE Experience most likely cancelled once the WWE moves to the USA Network in September, Ivory would not need to stick around. She is around 44 years old and appears to be retired from the women's division, wait there is no longer a women's division. Plus rumor has it the WWE will cut back on commentators once the jump to USA Network takes place. Rene Dupree - He has dropped the ball with pushes, I don't see anything for him on Raw. Not really a good worker anyway. Rob Conway - worked a dark match this week as a surfer dude in a new gimmick. Oh Man, the WWE sometimes releases superstars after they give them a new gimmick, they did this with Chuck Palumbo last year. He got some lame new gimmick and got fired the following week. Tajiri - Tajiri has been used as a jobber during most of his 4 year WWE run, plus he reminds me more of a cruiserweight, and he is not on Smackdown. Plus he has lost Regal to Smackdown. Tyson Tomko - one of the worst workers in WWE history, his only role has been Christian's bodyguard, and now that Christian is on Smackdown, Tomko just does not serve a purpose. Val Venis - biggest jobber on Raw currently, he has been with the WWE for over 7 years, but Val Venis is very washed up. Time to go. Victoria - since Victoria is used primarily as a women's division talent, and seeing that the WWE has released most of the women's division over the past year, I wouldn't doubt seeing Victoria gone with them. Smackdown: Al Snow - working as a trainer in OVW currently, but I cannot see a role for him since he is retired from the ring. If OVW does not need him, he will go. Candice Michelle - only serves a eye candy. Nuff said. Doug Basham - with the split from Danny Basham and the cabinet. I don't know if he can go at it alone. Funaki - With 4 cruiserweights cut, Funaki could be next seeing the arrival of the Mexicools and a lot of OVW cruiserweights coming in. Funaki has been with WWE since 1998, and also serves as a backstage announcer, he may be kept for comic relief. Hardcore Holly - should have been released 8 years ago. Biggest jerk backstage, very stiff worker, has almost killed Matt Cappotelli, Carlito Cool, and Rene Dupree, just because of his hatred of younger talent. Just time to go, I can't believe he has been with the WWE since early 1994 and is still employed. Michelle McCool - Diva search contest who serves as eye candy, however does have wrestling skills, but with no women's title on Smackdown, she should go. Nunzio - Been with the WWE since 2002, however appears he is not going anywhere except being a cruiserweight jobber. Scotty 2 Hotty - has been with the WWE since 1993, where he first started out as a jobber known as Scott Taylor. Has used the Scotty 2 Hotty gimmick for 6 years now, with Rikishi and Grandmaster Sexay no longer around, he just does not serve a purpose. Sharmell Sullivan - signed to WWE to play Booker T.'s wife, whom she is married to outside WWE. Was employed with WWE in 2001 as an interviewer, but later released. I can't see her doing anything else once the WWE decides to take her away from Booker T. Simon Dean - supposedly reverting back to the Nova gimmick with the Blue Meanie, but if Meanie does not stay around long, I can't see Simon "Nova" Dean really staying around except jobbing. Steven Richards - I can't see him adding to Smackdown since he has been one of the biggest Raw jobbers, unless with the Meanie returning. Steve Romero - he is one of the worst announcers ever, and with Velocity possibly cancelled once the WWE heads to the USA Network. I don't think he needs to be announcing on any other show. Sylvain Grenier - since his WWE run has been either with Dupree or Conway in La Resistance on Raw. Now that he is alone on Smackdown, I can't see him going at it alone. Torrie Wilson - Since her real life husband Billy Kidman got fired, and Torrie Wilson is not a favorite backstage, I think she will go. She really has not done anything lately either. William Regal - Regal is one of the older WWE stars, and has been considering retirement. Regal seems to have slipped to jobber status over the past year and I can't see him staying around for long. |

I was a little disappointed with the releases of Maven and Akio, but the others I could care less.

Maven being let go is the best release in the history of the WWE. Ever since 2001 fans always make a sign that says FIRE MAVEN. I guess Vince finally gave in to what the fans desire.
Notice how all the Tough Enough talents are getting released: Maven - Tough Enough 1 Winner Jackie Gayda - Tough Enough 2 Winner Matt Morgan - Tough Enough 2 Compeitor Nidia - Tough Enough 1 Winner - Released Last November Linda "Shanequia" Miles - Tough Enough 2 Winner - Released Last November Chris Nowinski - Tough Enough 1 Compeitor - Released January 2005 due to injury |
