for those who have seen these, what are they like in terms of audio & video? Are they uncut? What extras (if any) do they have?

There's a good review of it here:
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/makeroo...dvdreview.html I think the quality is great, but the episodes are the ones shown in syndication. |

I wonder if this is another show where the original master films are in such bad shape, that a DVD transfer is imposible, so they're forced to use the sydnication prints. I read where that's the case with some older shows, unfortunately.

I've only seen the syndicated episodes (from Nick and Nite, 5th season DVD) so I don't know what I'm missing.
I recently bought a $1 DVD with some episodes from the seasons with Jean Hagen. There are are cigarette commercials and the film is really dark. I had to lighten each image when I made screen caps for the photo gallery here. The 5th season caps are unedited. |

This is rarely if ever the case. It is just an excuse given by lazy and or cheap studios who don't want to go through the trouble or expense of remastering from the original elements. Trust me, I work in the industry. The original elements are kept in pristine condition. |

like ANCHOR BAY and their HORRIBLE 2 disc set of "The Beverly Hillbilies".
Not only is the original music absent, but Jerry Scroggins (the singer who did the opening & closing themes) also isn't on it. And, in the first episode, when the announcer-Bill Baldwin-thankfully, they kept him!) says "And here come..." then some guy who sounds as if he's attemting to do a BAD impression of Elvis Presley says "...The Beverly Hillbillies!" And, the episodes are the sydnicated versions. |
