That was so sad! The update said his son died in 1998 at the age of eighteen. ( I think that was the year anyway) How awful all that time searching and searching and then to find that out. You know I had probably saw that episode and the update but today it just really bothered me.

I know...he died in 1998(you're correct!!) from Luekimia. That was sad and I feel sorry for his father who spent all that time looking for him.

What I want to know about this case is what the h*ll was that mother's problem?
I know divorce can't be easy but is that any excuse to kidnap your own son like that? Her name was Betty Day. Man was she awful. I can't even begin to think how Bill must have reacted when he found out his son had died. That's 11 years of searching, worrying and stress down the tube. What makes me the most angry is that, last I heard, Betty was only wanted for false citizenship papers. I'm guessing she wasn't punished for the kidnapping. I hate to think that she caused her ex-husband that much pain and is now living her life as if she did nothing. Any lawyers out there? Can you face jail time if you kidnap your own child? |

Well I'm no lawyer but I remember in the update it said that since she was never officially served with the custody papers she wasn't wanted for taking her son. I know, this story just makes me sick!

That doesn't make any sense! Before the kidnapping, she continued to violate the custody orders of the judge at least several times. That's why her ex had to keep taking her to court. And when she eventually did kidnap her son, she knew FULL well what she was doing and that it was violating court orders. How on Earth can you just get a slap on the wrist for doing that? Wow. |

And, even if one doesn't care about her ex's anguish in finding out that his son who'd been taken away all those years had died of cancer, how can anyone think she was justified in letting their son languish for months from cancer then DIE without ever letting him see or contact his father one last time? Whether the son died pining away for one last visit from his father or whether she lied to the dying boy that the father was too evil to see again/ didn't CARE if he was dying, it was a totally reprehensible thing for her to have done to BOTH father and son and I think she should have gotten more than that wrist-slap! |
