I had my Exit Interview Today since tomorrow is my Last Day and I will be starting my new job next week. So today the HR Manager wanted to know how I felt about my job during my time with the company.-lol Anyone else think an Exit Interview is Pointless?

I sat through a couple of those myself. The company probably wants to know how they can improve the position you're vacating. They probably want to put it in the employee's personnel file to cover themselves in the event that the person should later make a claim against them.

That's exactly what they're for (Janice). Yeah - I've worked for a couple of places who held them. I think they're very helpful. Its not just for improving the vacated position, but the manager or supervisor for that job and possibly some of the job functions. Its usually only the better and more professional places that DO hold them - be glad of it!

One Christmas I worked at Wal-Mart as seasonal help. After my last day of work they wanted to interview me. I was in a hurry, so I told them that they couldn't. The next day one of the managers called me up on the phone and asked me if I would anserw some questions. I told him that I was busy and I didn't want to anserw any questions. He then told me that he would keep calling me until I agreed to do the exit interview. He did just that. He called me up several times a day for several days before I just got fed up with him and did the interview.

Lots of companies hold exit interviews. Mine does, I know.

I think that I have gone through one or two myself, but quite honestly I don't remember. They were obviously none too painful, huh?

A couple of other reasons for such a meeting:

1) To have you sign a confidentiality agreement, to protect the business. They don't want their company strategies, etc. to be revealed to competitors.

2) To collect any keys/security fobs/parking cards you may have been given during your employment with the company.
