McDonalds 'Mac Tonight' - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Anyone out there remember the piano playing moonhead called Mac Tonight from 1987? That was my fave McDonalds campaign that was actually geared toward adults, being that the ads ran during prime time ( while Moonlighting was on ). I even remember the lyrics: "When the clock strikes, half past six babe, time to head for golden lights! It's a good time for that great taste, at Mcdonalds, it's Mac Tonight! Come on make it Mac Tonight!"

Yes, I do! In fact, I remember it was before I knew of Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife" song, of which I later had an interest in on account of this commercial! Oddly enough, when I hear Bobby's--or even Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong's--version nowadays, I tend to forget said McDonald's advertisement.

I actually went to those recording booths that sprouted up every where in the 80's and sang the Bobby Darrin version but ended it with 'It's Mac Tonight' just for kicks! BTW, if you're ever waxing nostalgic, all the Mac Tonight commercials are available on VHS on Ebay. Just type in 'Mac Tonight' and hit search. Needless to say, I have a well- played copy!

I still have one commercial with Mac Tonight on tape. I forget what show it is on. There was also one of him playing piano in the McDonalds in Warren.

Sweet! I have the plastic Mac Tonight cup. My most beloved Mac Tonight piece is a 3D 'Translight' sign of him at the piano. Translights are the signs that are displayed 'back-lighted' up on the menu board. You can find those on Ebay every now and then.

There was a guy on Ebay who was selling a life-size Mac Tonight that was seated behind a full-size piano. It used to be on display at a Mcdonalds somewhere. One could
only imagine what the shipping costs on that would be to any buyer!

AHHH, I used to love that guy when I was little!

In Greenfield, WI we have a "Solid Gold" McDonald's and there's this audiomechanical(?) life size Mac Tonight and he plays the piano!

Wow... my kingdom for a picture of that!

A coupla years ago a guy was selling one of the Original Mac Tonoght Moon Heads that was worn by the actor in the commercial. There were only 2 made and the other one is in the Smithsonian!
