Default virtual moonlighting

First, many thanks to Kismet and Caitybelle for turning me on to "virtual moonlighting". Between that site and my DVDs I feel like I've hit paydirt! I'm sure this has been said here before, but I've always thought lunar eclipse was sooooo disappointing and when the series ended with that episode I was left feeling like this:
I remember everyone saying that the story of Maddie and David had run its course, and there was nowhere for the characters to go. I don't know exactly how to put it, but after reading some of these "vitual" stories, I guess I'm more satisfied now that I see that the story of Maddie and David could have continued, hadn't run its course, and there were plenty of places for the characters to go. I realize its just fan fiction, but in my opinion anyway, this is a cut above, and I wish there was more!!! Thanks again, and thanks to those writers...if you're out there reading this, we'd love to read EVEN MORE!!!!!

right on. you know, i've always imagined it going on too -- and never quite got over feeling silly for making up stories of where i thought it should go. so i'm just relieved to see other people think the same thing, you know?

I read them all too, and really enjoyed them. I'd be interested to know if there are going to be more. As I recall it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger!

Just want to add my little bit as well. I also thoroughly enjoyed Virtual Moonlighting and can't wait for more. So, Diane, please, please, please, may we have some more?

Hi everybody,

Cindy clued me in that I needed to come over and see what you all were saying about Virtual Moonlighting. On behalf of the other writers and myself, I thank you so much for your gracious comments.

Virtual Moonlighting is very special to me.....I got to write, and it was wonderful because it was subject matter that I hold near and dear to my heart. I also got to work with some extremeley talented and terrific women.

I kind of hit a writer's block with the beginning of season 9, and now it is almost two years since I finished season eight, which has some of my favorite stories. I often toy with going on, but my life has become alot more complicated since then, and I have limited free time.

That said, I do see myself picking up my pen at some point...the story of David and Maddie is not over in my head.

I would love to discuss what you liked and didn't like about the virtual episodes...maybe that kind of interaction will get me jump started again. Please feel free to post some questions and/or discussion, and I will promise to check back and participate.

Thanks again.......it is nice to hear your good thoughts. I will be sure to pass them on to the other ladies.

fondly, diane

Hey Diane!

I only recently discovered the virtual season, and I've been really excited and impressed with the stuff you guys have been doing. I'm a ML fan from way back -- still have all the original ABC stuff on tape, and have, of course (and cliche) become re-wrapped up with the recent DVD release (which I've been holding out for since the darned pilot first came out on DVD a few years ago... )

Anyway, I've always been very let down by the ending, and though maturity and the reality of relationships has offered some perspective in the re-viewing (since I'm now circa 30 instead of circa 13, as I was the first time round) , I still prefer to consider my own "alternate" universe where things sort of went a different path -- so I was really psyched to see you guys were out there, and actually thinking (and writing) along similar lines.

Is the virtual season going to continue? I'm not clear on how often stuff is released, how you all decide to write and so forth, so figured I'd ask. Secondly, I'm wondering if you guys are at all interested in possible freelance stuff from "non-virtual" staff--perhaps that would jump start your creative process (i.e. scenes, possible dialogue, etc). Obviously you have constructed some sort of "bible" reference to keep all the threads together, and will want to keep control to that, but maybe a new perspective would help. Personally, I'm not even sure I can get it out of my head and on a page, but ya'll have inspired me to create ... so who knows. Would that be interesting to any of the staff, do you think?

At any rate, do let the ladies know that we love the work you guys are doing and really appreciate having the outlet.

Best, Lisa Smith (in Sunny Florida!)

Diane,
I also just discovered the Virtual site last month. I was so happy and glued to my seat and have read every episode. I was 15 when Moonlighting started and was hooked from the beginning. It is amazing to see others out there who feel like we all do about being let down about how the show ended. We all know they should have been together. Sorry to hear you have writers block. Hope watching the DVDS may help out and get you motivated! Would love to see what happens next.

YES. Thank you! I so agree. I wasn't sure what to expect when I found the virtual seasons, but I think you guys did a really good job with maintaining characters and the way they would behave, etc.

Yep, I agree with the others, Virtual Moonlighting was always top notch - the characters are totally recognisable in the way they spoke or acted.

I'd love to see anything appear..

Hope you get over your writers block Diane!

I need to catch up and read the virtual series -- but since I remember so little from the original series, I feel like I need to refresh and watched the aired original seasons before I can commit to it...

I wish I could get seasons 3 and beyond in some medium before the DVDs come out.

I always read Virtual Moonlighting, I could hardly wait a week (or two) for the next episode. At times when I had nothing to do, I translated my favorite episodes. When I started translating The Wedding I stopped. That one just shouldn't be translated, it's way too good in it's original language! (feeling like reading it again right now)

Diane, I hope you and the others will continue with the story one day. I really miss it...

Let your vacation bring back your inspiration!
