Default MAKE IT UP AS YOU GO (NEW GAME)

Hi, I am pretty new to this website but I thought of a new game. I could start a story, and someone else can continue, and then someone else, etc. Hopefully it will be a fun game. Lets see if this will work. Please reply.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Janet Wood walked into the apartment. She was close to tears. She couldn't believe what she had just learned. Why was life so unfair? she thought to herself. When Jack walked in to greet her, she quickly wiped off her tears. Jack could sense that something was wrong, but he didn't know what it was. He decided he would ask her later. Right now, it was dinner time.

"So, um Jack, what are we having for dinner?" asked Janet trying to act casual.

"My specialty, poached salmon in aspen," Jack replied proudly. He would think that one of Janet's favorite meals would maker her happier, but it didn't.

Over dinner Janet didn't say a word. She was immersed in her own thoughts. After dinner she went straight to bed. She needed a good night's sleep to collect her thoughts.

Jack finished cleaning up from dinner. He went into the livingroom and sat down on the couch for some TV. His favorite show was on, but, he couldn't concentrate on what was going on. Jack was worried about Janet and she was all he could think about.

Terri came home and put her stuff down on the chair by the door. "Hi Jack, anything good on TV?" He didn't answer her. "Jack...I'm talking to you."

Suddenly Jack turned his attention to Terri, but was still thinking about Janet. "Huh? Oh sorry, I was just thinking about Janet." He turned his head back to the TV, staring blankly at it. By that time Terri was already on the couch by Jack, with a confused look on her face.

"Why, what's wrong with her?" Terri didn't know what was going on. Just yesterday, Janet was perfectly fine, but Terri wasn't sure what exactly was wrong with her.

"I don't know Ter, but she sure is upset about something. I even saw her crying when she got home." Jack closed his eyes, remembering the exact visual of what Janet looked like. He hated it everytime when Janet was crying. Sometimes it just felt like he couldn't help her wipe the tears away.

"Where is Janet?" Terri asked Jack. He told her that Janet went to bed right after dinner and that she didn't utter a word throughout dinner, which wasn't like her. Terri told him not to worry, She would go talk to Janet.

Terri opened the bedroom door quietly, trying not to wake Janet, if she was sleeping. She was awake, lying on her side with her back to Terri, crying softly. "Janet?" Terri walked over and sat beside Janet. She placed her hand on Janet's shoulder.

"Janet, what's wrong?" asked Terri. "Why are you behaving like this? What happened?"

"Oh, Ter, I am so upset," sobbed Janet. "I got a call from work today. Something----happened...."

Outside the door, Jack was listening. He knew he shouldn't but curiousity had finally overcome him.

"Ter, I got a call that......"

I don't blame you! What call from work could make Janet that upset?

Oh and great job so far guys! I really like it!

"My father had a massive heart attack." She sobbed. Terri felt so bad for her. She had only met Mr. Wood once or twice, but, he was so sweet to her, almost as if she were his own daughter. "Oh Janet, I'm so sorry, is he going to be okay?" Terri wasn't sure what to say at this point.

There was a familiar knock at the door. Jack crossed the room and answered it. Larry had managed to get a couple dates for Jack and himself, Bellydancers -- typical Larry. "C'mon Jacko, they're not gonna wait all night."
Larry urged him. Jack was a million miles away in thought, once again.

All at one, a song came on the radio that caused Janet to burst into tears. She had heard the ong many a time in her childhood, and each familiar lyric was like a knife driving through her heart.

Dance With My Father

Back when I was a child,
Before life removed all the innocence.
My father would lift me high,
And dance with my mother and me,
And then spin me around 'til I fell asleep.
Then up the stairs, he would carry me.
And I knew for sure I was loved.

If I could get another chance,
Another walk, another dance with him.
I'd play a song that would never, ever end.
How I'd love, love, love to dance with my father again.

When me an' my Momma would disagree,
To get my way, I would run from her to him.
He'd make me laugh just to comfort me,
Then finally make me do just what my Momma said.
Later that night while I was asleep,
He left a dollar under my sheet.
Never dreamed that he would be gone from me.

If I could steal one final glance,
One final step, one final dance with him,
I'd play a song that would never, ever end.
How I'd love, love, love to dance with my father again.

Sometimes I'd listen outside her door,
And I'd hear how my Momma cried for him.
I'd pray for her even more than me.
I'd pray for her even more.

"I know I'm praying for much too much,
"But could you send back the only man she loved.
"I know you don't do it usually,
"But, dear Lord, she's dyin' to dance with my father again."

Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream.

Suddenly Jack heard Janet's sob from where he was standing. He knew he couldn't take it any longer, and then he turned to Larry with a sad look on his face. "That's ok Larry, you go on without me." He turned to head to Janet's room, and Larry left. He heard Janet crying, and he didn't know why, but he knew that Jack would take care of things.

Jack quietly walked over to Janet's door, where he slowly creaked open Janet's door and made his way inside, but only to find Janet's head bowed down and Terri sitting next to her, unsure of what to do. Jack quickly made his way over to Janet, sitting on the other side of her. "Janet honey, what's wrong?" He already put his arm around her.

"Jack I...I..." She wanted very much to tell him about her father, but, she just couldn't stop crying. "Jack...her father had a heart attack, that's what that call was about today." Terri was crying a little bit too. Not so much for Mr. Wood, but, for the pain that Janet was going through.

"Janet, honey, I am sooo sorry, Is he..I mean will he be okay?" He asked her.
hoping to god that it didn't come out the wrong way. "Janet, I need to talk to Jack for a second okay?" Terri promised she'd be right back.

"Terri..wow I can't believe this is happening to Janet. I wish I could do something for her.." He drifted off and his stared into space, only thinking about Janet and the pain she was going through. He'd seen her go through tough times, but this by far was the worst. Terri practically dragged Jack to the couch, and he sat down, waiting to hear what she had to say.
