Default Sex!!!

Now that I have your attention I was wondering, what was the first show you saw, where you heard jokes about sex?

For me, it was "Threes Company".

Most likely TC. It's the first show with sex jokes that I understood (at age 7, no less!).

All in the Family, I would think. I was not really allowed to watch it (I was almost a teen when it started OMG--I was SUCH a sheltered only child LOL!), but did manage to see it sometimes.

I'm with Sonny - it had to be All In The Family.

I still call it a "groinacologist"!

Seinfeld. The first episode I saw was The Contest when it originally aired in '92, and I was 8 when I saw it. And I got it all.

I think I've heard/read that The Dick Van Dyke Show actually has the distinction of having the first joke about sex.

For some reason, I thought you were like 10 years older than me. I'm not sure why I thought that. I was 7 at the time that episode aired.

I think it was the episode of the Partridge Family where Keith was flunking sex education...and at five I asked what was sex? The first time I was exposed to homosexuality was SOAP and Billy Crystal's Jodie....

now that I think of it, it probably was. I recently got DVDs of season 1 and in the episode "Harrison B. Harding of camp Crowder, Missouri" there's a scene where Harrison B. Harding and his wife are talking to Richie in the living room while Rob & Laura are in the kitchen, listening. Harrison Harding says to Richie "Do you have any brothers or sisters?" and Richie replies "Not yet. But I will someday. Daddy promised!" Rob then turns to Laura and says "I've been meaning to talk to you about that."*

I was SURPRISED to see that, because that's not the kind of thing you would hear in an early 60s family sitcom! (of course, maybe they were just talking about adoption or something)

*don't look for this scene in the sydnicated reruns on TV LAND or anywhere else. Unfortunately, it's another scene that's been cut out and is only available on DVD.

The first time that I understood that the joke was about sex? Probably either All in the Family or Maude.

The first show that I saw that had sex jokes? Laugh-In, though I didn't know it until many years later.
