Who has seen Celebrity Charades on AMC? I saw the show last night and thought it was informal. There was no host, even though executive producer Bob Balaban (along with Chad Lowe and Hilary Swank) was the de facto host and there was no announcer.
However, there seems to be no appeal for this revival of one of TV's oldest game show formats because it's more like a dinner party than a game show. What made Pantomine Quiz (aka Stump the Stars) appealing was that viewers could see big name celebrities playing charades and also they could send in ideas for phrases to use on the show. If Mike Stokey was still aiive today, he would give this revival a failing grade. I would give it an average grade. |
