This sitcom is about a group of four women in their 30s, who own, run, and manage a cosmetics outlet at a Baltimore mall. The four women are as follows: Shannon Berkeley (Jenna Elfman), Denise Clineman (Lauren Graham), Carrie Donaldson (Molly Ringwald), and Trish Alexander (Lara Flynn Boyle). Shannon, Carrie, Denise, and Trish are high school best friends and have been ever since. Shannon is the ditzy, blonde one. Carrie is the smart, level-headed one. Denise is the flaky, insecure one. Trish is the man-hungry, flirtatious one. Denise's the only one of the three, who is married (currently). Denise's husband, Jeff Clineman (Matthew Lillard) is a lawyer with a heart of gold. Shannon's only been engaged twice, yet never married. Carrie's never been engaged or married. Trish has been married, yet divorced shortly after the honeymoon period. Jeff and Denise have a house of their own, as Shannon, Trish, and Carrie share a loft apartment together. Carrie, Shannon, and Trish's landlady is the optimistic, friendly Lucy Fitzgerald (Teri Garr) and she lives with her recently retired hubby, Cliff Fitzgerald (John Ratzenberger). Cliff and Lucy are like "adoptive parents" to the three girls (and the Clinemans).
