After watching over 50 eps of this show, I don't think ths is the type of show you

Can continue to watch over and over to laugh again. I think this show is only funny when watching it for the first time. For example, Maude's catch phrase-"God will get You for that" can get old very quickly if you watch this show over and over. So I probably won't buy season 2 if it was released on DVD since I already seen the UNCUT version on The DEMAND Feature on Comcast Cable. And I really don't want to watch season 2 again-lol I enjoyed it and that's it. I don't think I want to go back to it To me, Maude is not a show to watch over and over like the Jeffersons, All in the Family, or Good Times. Anyone Agree?

No, I don't think Maude would appeal to many people as being "re-watchable" like a show such as All in the Family. I think in a way Maude was an acquired taste, and even though it did do good in it's day, there was still a lot of people who hated it back then. I'm sure many people would watch Jeffersons or Good Times before Maude, but I'd watch Maude before these shows you mentioned. I guess it is because I'm a Bea Arthur fan! I do believe sets of this show would sell more than what Sony believes. I would still buy season sets because I'm not getting all of the episodes on Comcast and they aren't closed-captioned.

Another example, the 2 part episode when Walter had a Drinking Problem, is that really a episode to watch again?-lol Or the episode when Carol Byfriend planned to stay the night. I think it's the eps Topics that makes me not want to see the episodes again.

I think some of the topics on Maude were acted out a little bit more serious and "brutal" if that makes any sense. While All in the Family covered controversial topics like racism, etc, you still had Archie's loveable uneducated charm that made it funny. I think that is why people can still watch the show decades later. I don't think Archie would give Edith a black eye and George Jefferson wouldn't beat Louise. Now I'm not too sure about James belting one to Florida and the kids. He acted like he could've. Those shows were more of a situation comedy I think, but they still had their "seroius" overtones. Maude seemed to be a little bit more dramatic than the other shows and Bea Arthur's character does come off as being unsympathic and bullyish...a lot! I think some of the topics too on Maude weren't as "stand-out" as the other shows except for the abortion and face-lift probably. I do love the episode where Viv's brooch is pinned on the dead friend at the funeral home. It was both tacky and funny.

Actually, from what I can remember One Day At A Time is probably in the Maude territory somewhat. That is probably why it didn't too so hot in syndication. It was big for it's time, but how funny is it really to watch a four part episode of a teenage girl running away with her boyfriend living in an alley with 1970's Sex Pistols looking kids and later in a sleazy hotel. Teenage runaways are probably a bigger problem now then back in the 70's. If it comes to TV Land tape everything you can because I think it go the way of Maude.

I like Maude more probably because I thrive on the drama and the screaming!

Oh, can you imagine if Beverly LaSalle was on Maude instead of Archie? You probably couldn't tell the two apart!

Yeah good point, I could never see James, George, or Archie hitting their wives. I can watch these episodes over again
