It's been (literally, verrrry literally) YEARS since I've posted something here, and I felt oddly in the mood to post something. This takes place seven years after TC ended -- 1991. It's still a spur of the moment kind of thing, but it's kind of dramatic so just stay tuned, there might be more following it lol...
"Return to Santa Monica" "Angels we have heard on high, singing sweetly o'er the plains. And the mountains, in reply, echoing their joyous strains..." The music filled the entire Dawson household. It was December 24, 1991, and the whole family was sitting around the television, waiting for the clock on top of it to read 12:00:00 AM. Janet sat with her and Phillip's youngest, three-year-old Amanda, in her lap, smiling at the TV, not really knowing why her brothers and sisters were so eager. Phillip stood in the background with a paper cup full of brandy watching Janet and the kids closely. The clock struck midnight and everyone of the four kids' faces grew big with smiles. Janet put Amanda down and after watching them create a mess on the floor with the wrapping paper for about fifteen minutes, she and Phillip went to their bedroom on the second floor. To the oldest, thirteen-year-old adopted son Danny, she said "Your father and I must have eaten something bad at his company's Christmas party, so we're gonna turn in early, 'kay? Make sure you have all your brothers and sisters in bed by 1:30, please? Remember last year when the neighbors complained about all of the excitement..." Danny smiled, nodded, and the parents went to their bedroom. As Janet undressed, Phillip sat on the bed watching. Phillip: "You signed the divorce papers yet?" Janet: "Phillip, I don't see why -- " Phillip: "You're right, Janet, you don't see why. You live in a world where orphans always get parents and puppies are never ran over in the middle of the road. You have rose-colored glasses riveted to your face!" Janet gave him a look and went to the vanity where the divorce papers sat. She pulled a pen from her purse and signed her name, Janet Wood Dawson, by the X. Janet: "There! Are you happy now?" Phillip: "Very." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "...I know pronounce you man and wife! You may kiss the bride!" The groom kissed the bride. "It gives me great pleasure to announce for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Day!" Chrissy and her husband did the march down the aisle and into the limousine that would drive them all the way from Fresno to a hotel in Santa Monica. "Oh, Michael, this was so romantic, getting married on the day for which I was named!" Michael: "Only the best for you, Babes! Only the best for my own personal Christmas Snow!" Chrissy: "Just think of how ironic it is! Becoming Christmas Day...on Christmas Day! And I can't wait until we get back to Santa Monica! Do you think that all of my friends will still be there? Jack and Janet and Larry and even Mr. Furley?" Michael: "Honey, I told you, stop worrying. I'm sure they couldn't have gone far. If they still live there, we'll find them, okay?" Chrissy and Michael looked out of the limo windows at the snowless trees and sidewalks as they sped through out of Fresno and onto the freeway. Chrissy: "You and Jack are going to get along so well, with you being a chef too and all!" Michael: "Yes, I'm definitely looking forward to meeting him. Tripper you said it was? I hope to swap recipes with him." Chrissy: "He's a great cook too. That's part of the reason why me and Janet let him stay with us in our apartment. You see, our roommate Eleanor got married and moved in with her husband, so we threw her a going away party. The next morning, we found him sleeping in the tub, completely passed out. Jack, that is, not Eleanor's husband." Michael: "Oh! I wasn't sure for a moment there!" Chrissy: "But yeah, Jack made us a great breakfast and he needed a place to stay and we gave it to him!" Michael: "You did what!?" Chrissy: "The apartment, I mean! We gave him a place to stay." Michael: "Oh! Chrissy, I told you, you have to remember to explain things to me slowly. I'm not as smart and as wise as you are, remember?" Chrissy: "Oh, I know, Mikey-Likey..." Michael: "Chrissy-Kissy..." Needless to say, they went at it for most of the ride and ended up in Santa Monica at around noon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Should I post more? |

"Return to Santa Monica"
2nd Installment ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Hello, welcome to Jack's Bistro. I'm Jack and I hope that you enjoy your meal." Jack greeted Michael like he would any customer. "I take it you are dining alone, sir?" Michael: "No. My wife is staying in the hotel across the street and she'll be joining me very soon. I'm sure you'd love to meet her." Jack: "You say that as if I look like the type of guy who steals other people's wives...do I?" Chrissy finally came. Chrissy: "Of course not, Jack!" Jack: "Chrissy!? Little Chrissy!? Is that really you!?" Chrissy: "Yes, Jack it is! Merry Christmas!" They hugged and soon enough, Jack joined Chrissy and Michael at their table during lunch to catch up and reminisce. Chrissy: "So Janet married too? Do you know where she and her husband live?" Jack: "No, not really. They used to live in that suburb, Ellendale Heights, but I think they moved off somewhere. The last letter she sent was addressed to Granada Hills." Chrissy: "That sounds sad. So how did my cousin Cindy do at the old apartment?" Jack: "Cindy's great! She stayed with us for about a year or so and then she went off to UCLA to be a vet." Michael: "Um...how could she be a vet if she just started college then?" Jack: "Vet...erinarean.... Chrissy, you and Michael here obviously belong together." Chrissy: "Yes, we do! How about you though? Have you finally settled down?" Jack: "Well I thought I was going to. A few years back, around '86 or '87, I was engaged to be married to a woman named Vicky, but she contracted some kind of pneumonia and died before the wedding." Chrissy: "That's very sad! I'm sorry for you, Jack." Jack: "It's fine. So tell me, what are you and Michael doing here in town? Shouldn't you crazy kids be out on your honeymoon?" Chrissy: "This is our honeymoon, Jack! I wanted to bring Michael back here to show him my old town. Who knows, maybe we'll stay a while." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Barbara, where is my red bandana? I leant it to you last weekend," said Kayla Forrester to her roommate Barbara Barrett as she walked through the living room of Apartment #201. "It is in your top dresser drawer. I put it there yesterday afternoon." Barbara, Kayla and their third roommate Mark had lived in the apartment for two years now and they lived under the same circumstances of a certain trio who lived there, roughly, ten years earlier. Barbara was an attractive blonde in her early 40s, Kayla was a brunette in her mid 30s, and Mark, a studly man in his early 20s. The three sat down for a quick lunch in the kitchen on December 27, 1991. Barbara: "So how was your date last night with my brother, Kay?" Kayla: "Better than what I expected. Unlike you, he didn't want some fun on the first date, if you know what I mean." Barbara: "Hey now, it's the 90s! Women have the same needs as men." Mark: "Yes and you're in your 40s. The only needs you should be having are vanilla ice cream and a movie of the week." Barbara: "Har har har. Don't forget that if it wasn't for this 42-year-old woman, you would have gotten kicked out of her a long time ago. I can't believe Mr. Dallas believed me when I said that you were my son." Mark: "You told him that because you wanted him to stop hitting on you!" Kayla: "You should just accept a date with him, Babs, honestly. He's not that bad once you get to know him, you know?" Barbara: "Well I have no intention on getting to know him anytime soon, thank you very much. Now are you two coming. We'll all be late for work and we'll all be kicked out of here." Kayla: "I'm off today. I told you that already. Remember, they closed the department store for renovation. I'm on a paid vacation for a month, which is good, because after the Christmas season, I'm close to fainting whenever I stand." Barbara: "Oh...well, how about you hot shot?" Mark: "I have to go brush my teeth first. These eggs you make have a way of turning your teeth yellow..." Barbara: "Hurry up before I decide to leave without you." Barbara took Mark to his job as a construction worker and then went on her way to her job as a ninth grade World Geography teacher. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So I've pretty much decided on who the main characters will be... Jack Tripper Chrissy Snow Day Janet Wood Terri Alden (introduced later on) Larry Dallas (introduced later on) Michael Day Barbara Barrett Kayla Forrester Mark Lang Tara (introduced later on) Andy (introduced later on) Phillip Dawson and Lynette Browning (introduced later on) As always, feedback is wanted! |
