All the crime documentary shows such American Justice, Cold Case, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries have something in common. They are all voice-overed by a male. What females out there today would make a good narrator? Are there any? I was thinking maybe Marcia Clark. I "think" Psychic Detectives has a woman. Anyway it's an idea that's never been discussed here.

Good question! I have no idea who would make a good female host for shows like these...

Elvira...just kidding. Im not sure either. This is a very tough question to answer but it is a good one. I think it would have to be a woman with a somewhat low tone to her voice. Robert Stack was one of a kind.

I keep thinking Bea Arthur. Greta Van Sustern is too happy.

actress of all time...Susan Dey who some of you may know as Laurie on "The Partridge Family" but she also played District Attorney Grace Van Owen on "LA LAW" and has also hosted some sort of Bizarre Psychics show in the past. If UM I honestly would not mind seeing her as the host - anything would be better than K. Shaye Smith or Lu Herneasiam.
Also another LA LAW star who would make a good choice if they went with a male star would be John Spencer who is also known for his role on "The West Wing". I don't think he'd take it though as he is still pretty active on television and probably wouldn't have the time for UM. Later. |

She'd be a good choice -- but if I saw her hosting UM, I'd think, "Hey! Dorothy Zbornak!" I'd start laughing, thinking about The Golden Girls.... probably not a good thing when watching UM!

I'm all for keeping it old school, Keley Shaye Smith would be my first choice. I don't know why people do not like her. It's not like hosting the show is hard.

I keep thinking Virginia Madsen. It's hard even imagining someone taking Stack's place. I mean even watching the Pre-Stack specials was an experience..

I think Candace DeLong would make a good host. She was a criminal profilest for the FBI for a number of years and now she mostly is a panelist for the news. She hosted a show a few years ago on Lifetime about what to do in life-or-death situations.
Also I'm a huge Nancy Grace fan. She is a victim's advocate that will try to get to the bottom of any mystery. Her only problem, however, is that she can be bias and VERY opinonated. |

Ooh! I never thought of Nancy Grace!! But that would be a good choice! Although, you are right, she is definetly VERY opinionated, I think she would be very passionate about the cases!

I nominate Norah O'Donnell of NBC News. She could use a secondary gig. Or maybe Kelly Monaco of some soap opera and that Dancing With The Stars show. My first choice would be Cara Wakelin but she's Canadian. Not mysterious enough up there.
