Default Time Warner Cable (TWC) Adds TV One!

Time Warner Cable recently entered a distribution agreement with TV One and was added to many of its cable systems today including my local system. It's great seeing some old favs including "227" and "Good Times"!!

Is it for basic cable, or only digital?

Dammit! It's not on here in New York. If anyone in NYC finds out if we've got it or will get it on Time Warner New York, let me know the channel number.

I'm wondering if this is bogus. I just did a search of news for Time Warner, news for TV One and searched the press releases on TV One's website and there's no mention of this channel being added to Time Warner's systems.

Not bogus...it was added today to the Houston TWC digital cable tier (Channel 100).

Can you post some confirmation for me that it's an agreement with Time Warner Cable systems? I would think Time Warner New York would definitely be included if TV One is being added to a number of TW systems today.

I remember reading the agreement recently in an industry article about Radio One, Inc. (the parent company of TV One). In the meantime, here's the link for the Houston TWC system: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/ae/tv/3229229

I guess it's good news that at least your Time Warner system has it, I hope it means that it'll be added in other markets (namely mine).

Just found an article dated from a couple of months ago. I hope this means TV-One is coming to New York soon. I've got digital cable, so wherever they put it will be fine with me as long as it's on.

Quote:
The biggest impediment to TV One’s success at the moment is its limited distribution. “It isn’t backed by another network where they can get leverage,” Dundas says. “It’s kind of like Oxygen, which is a great network but independent.” And TV One is not yet available on cable in the New York market.

TV One is available on DirecTV in New York and is working on a carriage deal with Time Warner Cable. Stalling negotiations is that TV One wants to be carried on a basic tier wherever it can, and most cable operators don’t have much analog shelf space to spare.

In the meantime, the net’s relationship with Comcast, the country’s largest cable operator, is paying off. Comcast put TV One on basic cable in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Richmond, Va., at launch. It is now converting the network to basic in Los Angeles, Dallas, Detroit, Cleveland and Oakland, Calif.

Not on here either. Really though, by now, if it isn't SOAPnet, I just don't give a rat's about it...

TV One and Time Warner Cable Announce Affiliation Agreement

Wednesday June 22, 12:01 pm ET

SILVER SPRING, Md., and STAMFORD, Conn., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- TV One, the new network targeting African American adults, and Time Warner Cable have signed a long-term distribution agreement.

"We thank Time Warner for its support of TV One and look forward to working with Time Warner systems so they can take advantage of TV One's unique marketing opportunities that can help them connect with their adult African American customer base," said TV One Executive Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing Brad Samuels.

I have DirecTV and I already get TVOne and yesterday they added both I'll Fly Away and Roc to the schedule; however Roc is at the expense of 227.

Are they still airing Under One Roof, or is that gone? I know it was only a six episode series, there's just so many times they can show those same few episodes over and over again.
