Default Best Batman Movie

Right now I like the 1989 Batman the best. I'm not going to vote untill I see Batman Begins.

I grew up reading the Batman comic books, but IMO the Batman movie series has been a mixed bag. I really like the 1989 Batman, Jack Nicholson is excellent as the Joker in that film.

In order:

Batman Returns - It may not be better than the 1989 film, but I find I can watch it over and over again, more than I can with the other. The first film, for me, doesn't get good until Jack Napier becomes the Joker. But the Penguin is himself from the start. Plus is has more action.

Batman - A classic. I LOVED this movie as a kid. The Joker's my favorite villain.

Batman Forever - I would have liked it better if Michael Keaton were Batman. It was just an "okay" installment in the Batman franchise.

Batman (1966) - Aside from a few classic scenes and a great cast, this movie has always been boring to me.

Batman & Robin - This movie SUCKS!

**
Never seen "Batman Begins".

I don't even like to associate Joel Schumacher's mess with the Burton classics, but if I have to I will.

1. "BATMAN RETURNS" (1992)- This is just amazing from beginning to end. This is the darkest Batman movie of the bunch, and I love that. The whole gothic feeling is intriguing.

Michael Keaton is great and more comfortable with the Batman role this time around, and Michelle Pfeiffer, Danny DeVito, and Christopher Walken give award-worthy performances.

2. BATMAN (1989)- This movie doesn't have as much eye-candy as "...Returns," and focuses on Batman's character development (which is great, but...). Nicholson have a haunting performance, and the Gotham parade scene was just wonderfully shot.

3. BATMAN FOREVER (1995)- I have to admit, Joel's colorful and campy take of Batman was a breath of fresh air at first, the opening scene was captivating, but half way towards the movie, he just went too far.

4. BATMAN & ROBIN (1997)- CRAP, CRAP, CRAP. All the lead actors were trash, with the exception of Uma Thurman. Her performance alone couldn't save the film though.

I'm having big expectations for "Batman Begins" the buzz is great, and many are calling it the best Batman ever. I'll see for myself tomorrow.

OMG SEE IT! I saw it today! It was awesome! Christian Bale is fantastic as Bruce Wayne! It is now my favourite Batman!!!

(I never liked the George Clooney one and Val Kilmer just irks me. Christian Bale and Michael Keaton are pretty much tied for my fave but I think its Christian Bale by a just a tiny bit. )

Defintely Batman Begins. I liked the Tim Burton films but Begins is at just a completely higher level. Christian Bale was the best Batman and the supporting cast was excellent.

I just came back from watching "Batman Begins." It's definately the best film of the year so far, but "Batman Returns" is still the greatest film based on the bat.

It's too close for me to vote. I saw the new one yesterday and it completly took me by surprise. I didn't think it was going to be bad, but I didn't know it would be THAT good.

I hated the orig Batman: Short ugly wimp Micheal Keaton was horribly miscast as Batman ( They had to turn Bruce Wayne into Clark Kent< Wimp factor< to make it work ) and the whole "Joker kills Bruces parents" thing was all wrong , not to mention Alfred giving away Batman's identity to a REPORTER...come onnnn like she wouldnt tell the world!!! The only part of the movie that was ANY good was the ending...then the next one i bothered to see was the one with Val Kilmer, much better Batman, much Better movie, however, after seeing Batman Begins, i have a new fave, this is the greatest Super hero based movie EVER, bar none!!! ( Too bad the Batmobile is SO lame though )

For those who've seen "Batman Begins" already, who do you guys think should play the "new" villian?

IMO, Ray Liotta or Steve Buscemi would be perfect in that role.
