I was just thinking about how many shows in the 70's was created just by being a spin-off by All in the Family.Some successful & some weren't.. There's Gloria,Jeffersons,Maude & then the Maude spinoff Good times! Then we had Archie Bunkers place, I think there's another one but I'm not sure.

Perhaps a "remote spinoff" or "return to the scene" spinoff, or some such designation, would be 704 Houser Street, the short-lived 90's series where a black family was living in the Bunkers' old house. In the first ep, "Joey," Gloria's son, then about 19, made a visit just to see his mom's old home. And they tried to make the dad in that family, played by John Amos, a black Archie Bunker. No wonder it didn't work... AITF was very timely to be successful, and probably no era before or after its heyday would it work, either.

the other one was "Checkin' In" a short-lived spinoff of "The Jeffersons" that only had a few episodes, sometime in the mid-80s-I don't know what year.

I remember, my sister watched an episode of "704 Houser Street" back when it was on, and afterwards I asked her how it was and she said "All it is, is just a black version of "All in the Family".

All in the Family had the same amount of spinoffs as Happy Days-THREE!

Happy Days
1.Laverne and Shirley
2.Mork and Mindy
3.Joanie Loves Chachi

I don;t know why you mentioned Checking In because that came from the Jeffersons not All in the Family

Yes, because the show is in the same reality as AITF. And like Nighthawk said, Joey Stivic did appear in the first episode.

Does anyone recall if "Joey" mentioned where his grandfather Archie was at that time? Most likely dead or in a retirement or nursing home, maybe wailing about being deserted by his family as he dreamed about when the old man played by Burt Mustin appeared in that ep.

That makes FOUR!

I really don't consider that Out Of The Blue was a spin off.

Out of the Blue had premiered before the episode with HD so it was not a spin-off.

Blansky's Beauties however was a spin-off of sorts from HD's.

I heard the Mork was on Out Of The Blue..........

and Mork was the main character's friend.

I can't see how Happy Days is part of Out Of The Blue.

In more ways, Out Of the Blue was a spin off from Mork & Mindy, not Happy Days.

Out Of The Blue is confusing and sketchy at BEST!
