I've had the Complete First Season (the colorized set) since Friday and I was pretty impressed with the quality of the colorization on the episodes. There were a few little flaws in the colorization that I noticed (mainly with things like hair color, especially on Larry Tate), but I must say I enjoyed watching them in color more than I did in black and white. Of course, no colorization set is going to be perfect, but with this set, the colors look natural and looks perfect when compared to those colorized Gilligan's Island episodes that we all have nightmares about.

By the way, there will EVENTUALLY be a review of ths set posted in the reviews, hopefully sometime tonight. The holdup is coming from the fact that there was supposed to be a combined review with the colorized episodes and black and white episodes, since the sets are essentially the same other than the colorization. I have the colorized episodes, but the reviewer that is handling the black and white episodes has yet to receive that set, and the only thing that we really know right now is that they are on their way. If they don't come soon (like today), then I'll try to at least get the color review done for those that are interested in this set.

One place where Hallmark w/ its colorized eps and TV Land w/ the B&W eps has made an error was in including the 1966 color opening credits (in TV Land's case a B&W version of this color opening) w/ the 1964-66 B&W and colorized eps. Has this error been carried forward to the DVD set as well? As I remember seeing the original 1964-66 B&W opening credits, the music was slower, and someone else remembered that there was less detail shown in the part of the opening in the kitchen. One sure way to know is if the copyright date listed by the title is MCMLXVI (1966) instead of MCMLXIV (1964). I was hoping that the DVD set would include the full episodes, including the correct opening sequence. Can you tell which opening credits are used in this set? Please let us know if so. Thanks.

The Bewitched DVD review on Sitcoms Online answered my question, unfortunately yes.

I don't think the opening credits issue is a mistake as much as it is laziness. The original 1964 opening had sponsor information at the end, so Sony just chooses to decolorize a 1966 opening that had no sponsor information attached, and pastes the 1964 theme arrangement over it. When these episodes aired on Nick at Nite back in the early 1990s, they solved this problem by simply freezing the animation during Agnes Moorehead's credit. Why they can't do the same for the current syndication package, or for the DVDs, is anyone's guess.

Yes, I seen them. When I went to purchase them I had it in my mind that I was only going to purchase the B/W set. When I got to Target, they did not have the B&W so I got the color. I was VERY IMPRESSED with the quality!!! I have never seen anything yet that has been better as far as colorizing B&W film.
