Default Does Anyone Else...

Get frustrated when TV Land doesn't show LITB for an entire weekend like they are doing now? I always look forward to taping it to watch later, and now haven't been able to.

I get frustrated at everything that TV Land does or doesn't do anymore and as soon as I get all the episodes that I want on tape I will no longer be tuning in! These idiots have no clue of what classic TV is! Look at that new show with Farrah. That is a brand new show for cryin' out loud! To me classic is 50's - 70's. JMO. Nick at Nite can show the 80's and 90's but TV Land should be showing the real classics!

It's so funny because I would get a chance to watch it (TV Land) over the years when traveling and thought how great it would be to have it. Now when we finally have it, they don't hardly have anything good on, like you say.

Hallmark still has a lot of classic shows.

I agree with you. I remember when TV Land first came out, they did a stand up job! In fact, I got most of my I Love Lucy episodes taped off that channel but, someone really messed it up! I watch Hallmark too, they have some great movies.

Well they are owned by Viacom/MTV so that explains a lot in itself. I guess as the Baby Boomers get older they want to try and reach younger people. It's too bad because I think there is a real demand for the classics.

IMO there is alot of demand for the classics probably because of the way the world is today. We need memory of when life was simpler and more innocent. They are so much into reaching the younger crowd but they forget about the rest of us. Look at all those horrible reality shows. It's getting to the point where there are more of them then regular shows! There must be 200 of those crazy things! Oh well I guess I'm just a wet blanket at 33.

I think that Farrah show is stupid too. TVLand has really gone downhill in the past few years. Shows like Macgyver and Hunter are not yet classics imo and I'm so sick of seeing Gunsmoke all weekend. I know that ones a classic but it just doesn't keep my interest. LITB is one of the few decent shows left. I miss the old days when they showed all the 60's cop shows along with My Three Sons, Family Affair, The Honeymooners etc........

My guess is that even most Gunsmoke and Bonanza fans can't sit thru six episodes of each show, EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND! I mean, I love the Brady Bunch, and I'd watch a marathon if they put one on... but I don't think I could watch a marathon EVERY WEEKEND... and the BB is only a half hour show... how does one sit thru six hour-long dramas like Bonanza or Gunsmoke EVERY WEEKEND????

My wife and I first saw TV Land about 1997 or 1998, when we were on vacation in the Carolinas (we live in Florida)...and it was great...the hotel we stayed in had TV Land and we were watching My 3 Sons, Family Affair, Petticoat Junction, and a whole bunch of other shows we grew up watching... now, those shows are all gone, replaced by 80s and 90s crap that should be on NAN instead...

I hate when LITB isn't on during the weekend, that's just about the only show I watch on TV Land anymore... if I'm home during the week, I might catch the Brady Bunch and Dick van Dyke....and sometimes I Love Lucy... well, soon we'll be buying the complete Dick Van Dyke set, and I'll also buy the Brady Bunch and Leave it to beaver... we'll have our own TV Land, and the "real" TV land can put all of the reality shows on that they want... go ahead TV Land... those of us who liked Farrah back in the 70s couldn't care less about her now, and kids growing up today don't have a clue who she was... what WAS the purpose of that show, anyway?

Too bad that TV Land, like the Game Show network, forgot what it was that made them popular to begin with... kind of sad

RIP TV Land...your time was short, but you brought back a lot of nice memories (at least for the first few years)...

Well, maybe but I still love the classics! Thank You by the way! I guess I'm at that weird age where I can't stand today's programming and love the old stuff. The stuff in between is just so-so. There is very little modern stuff I watch.

I don't like most modern shows either but at least I am old!

The new sitcoms are just boring, and shows like LITB that have a moral are non-existent.

You are only as old as you feel! If that makes sense. Anyway, I agree with you on the modern shows vs. the classics. I guess I take after my daddy in watching the classics. My grandma always told me that I was an old soul, so maybe there is some truth to that.

I miss the old Nick at Nite from the '90s. Great stuff.

Luckily there's a local station here that airs nothing but local programming and classic TV such as Lucy, Beaver, Beverly Hillbillies, All In The Family and until recently, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and Andy Griffith. They air that old Jack Klugman series as well, Rockford Files and I think some of the TV westerns, but I'm not too crazy on those. It's slipped in quality to my personal taste, but it's still better than TV Land and Nick at Nite especially.

I wish we had a cable channel that aired nothing but '50s-'70s, as someone else mentioned. All the late '80s and '90s shows that TV Land and Nick show have all just recently aired (and some still airing) on other cable stations such as TBS.
