The career of entertainment journalist Brian Linehan is celebrated in a new one-hour tribute program Brian Linehan:A Life in Lights. Linehan, who died a year ago, was so noted for his extensive research and mastery of the celebrity interview that he bacame a celebrity himself - parodied by people like Martin Short. Roger Ebert, Joan Rivers, John Travolita and Shirley Maclaine also pay tribute to the popular host of Citylights. Airs Sunday, June 12 at 8:00PM ET on Star TV in Canada.  Linehan: Charming Host |

That's weird - I was just thinking about him the other day and wondering how long it had been. I remember watching him on City all the time back in the 70s/80s.

His death surprised me too. I was shocked to hear it last year. He passed away on June 4 from lymphatic cancer. He was only 54 years old. I never knew he was suffering from cancer. Elwy Yost, who hosted TVO's Saturday Night at the Movies isn't doing too well either these days.

Boy, it makes you wonder where time does go. The one that really shocked me recently was Domenic Triano - don't know if you've heard of him. He was a jazz/rock musician from Toronto and quite popular in the 70s/80s. The lead guitarist from my brother's old band used to play with him sometimes. He died a couple of weeks ago from cancer. You know when you lose Mr. Dressup and Chez Helen it's time to realize you're not a kid anymore!
