Gilligan: Mrs. Howell, I might blow up.

Me neither. Makes me sick they even use GI in the title. And it might be made "today" with mostly non-actors, but it is definitely not the "real" GI.

Sherwood Schwartz would be turning over in his grave. ...If he were dead.

They seem to be more mean-spirited on it than they are on Survivor even!

I'm surprised it's running again at all. What a total disappointment!

The Ginger and Mary Ann on this new show are a couple of trailer park skanks compared to the originals.

I never thought it would be a reality show. If they spoofed it as a made for TV movie, that would be fun. But this is...is...

Sacriligous!!!

Stone the producers!

Ah, you beat me to it... I went to this thread to say just that... I don't watch this show (I don't watch ANY reality shows, I don't understand the appeal)... but my wife had it on the other night, she wanted to check it out... and, while I didn't see Ginger when I walked through the living room, I did see the girl who plays Mary Ann... omg, Dawn Wells is prettier today, 40 years after the original series, than this Mary Ann is right now! And yes, skank is the word I would use to describe this Mary Ann ... what an insult to the original...

nah, I'm not... money is money, is it not?

Some people who create shows and movies really care about the legacy of what they've created... Carl Reiner WAS that way with the original Dick Van Dyke show... until that dreadful reunion show from last year...

I don't think Sherwood is that concerned about ruining the legacy of his shows... he knows the original shows will always be around (even though they've really never been off the air, this is even more true now, with DVDs being released)...

Sherwood looks at these dreadful remakes as a way to make a few bucks off of what he created... I mean, if you think that Sherwood is that concerned about the legacy of Gilligan's Island, TOS, you need only go back to the ridiculous TV Movies which aired in the 1980s.. gawd, those were awful!

The B Buch variety series? He HAD to know how bad that was...he just HAD to... but he made a few bucks from it, and that, to him, is the key. Not a whole lot of care goes into anything he makes these days...

And it doesn't matter if he can get the original cast together, he'll just throw anyone in there to complete the cast, and then he'll make his movie...(fake Marcia, fake Jan, fake Cindy...and yes, I know fake Jan was only on the Variety series, Eve did appear in all movies and "The Bradys" TV Show)...

Sherwood is out for the bucks, plain and simple... I really don't know the economics of syndication, but maybe he thinks he didn't make enough from his original series, and he's making up for it by cashing in periodically over the years on one show or the other...

The only thing I can say about that is that, at least it's Sherwood himself who's making money off of what he created...and again, people are not going to stop liking the Brady Bunch or the original Gilligan's Island, just because of these idiotic remakes...

and in fact, he stated during the recent Brady "reunion" on TV Land (hosted by the incredibly untalented Jenny McCarthy) that he's looking to do a Brady reality series as well... I think he's looking for a widower with 3 sons who's married to a widow with 3 daughters... gee, won't THAT be exciting?

Didn't watch this one but did the first series of the "Real GI" and was very, very disappointed. The characters were so unlike the orginal. I will stick to watching the the old original ones. That's class!

I know I'm not going to watch. It really has almost nothing to do with GI at this point. The only relationship between the original series and this new series, is both have "Gilligan's Island" in the titles, and both have 7 people on them. Besides that, there is no real resembalance.
