I remember that the air date for last season's finale was June 6, 2004. And I think June 1 is the cut-off date for Emmy nominations. That would also explain why the episode received no nominations last year. I wonder, if this one episode is eligible, can the actors and show take nomination slots in the major categories as well? The same is also true of Arrested Development, which had it's Season 1 finale air on the same day last year. However, they actually had a second season in the 2004-05 year.

I don't believe it can be considered this year because I think they have to air a certain number of episodes within the eligibility period. "The Sopranos" only had one new episode air during that time frame which was not enough to make it eligible.
