But noooooooooo! NBC has to rerun that stupid Mork and Mindy movie again (a made for TV movie about a show on ABC that was cancelled 20 years ago).

You want to know why AD didn't get the ratings? It's because the damn network never promoted the show and didn't saturate us with reruns like they do for the THREE Law and Order shows and the West Wing.

Sad thing is they are putting West Wing in the old Sunday AD timeslot. I hope that doesn't mean the end for Wing. It's almost like a death sentence there.

I totally agree, tonight would have been good for an "American Dreams" movie. Actually, I think a book would be better. In a book, they can trace the characters to 1974. As for "West Wing" they've already announced this is its last season. Sorry to all of you "West Wing" fans out there.

There is actually a TV Movie Miniseries called 'The 60's', when I watched it I thought it was basically American Dreams wrapped up in one film (except no Banstand, but it does feature alot of music), it doesn't have any of the cast of AD but it does have some known Actors/Actresses such as Jerry O'Connell, and Julia Stiles. Although I enjoy American Dreams being a TV series better, it was and interesting film and it covered the whole decade.

I love "The 60"s"! I thought they did a really groovy

job with it. When I first saw the promos in 2002 for AD, it really reminded me of "The 60's". I thought, "cool, now there's gonna be a really groovy series on the 60's!"

What a cryin' shame it's over

Yes I saw that too. I remember when it was on TV, and it was a big hit in the ratings. That may be where Jonathan Prince got his inspiration to do a period piece on this era. NBC also aired a miniseries called "The 70's", but that bombed in the ratings.

I thought the 60s miniseries was okay. I felt becuase they had to cover so much in a short time, the characters felt more like stereotypes, not real people. "American Dreams" was cool because the characters were really well developed. Although I have to admit the 60s movie did have a really great soundtrack.

Right on, Sarah. The families in A.D. probably dealt with more issues than most of us who actually lived through those times, but the depth of emotions and character development made them seem very real and close to us. Like the Beatles or any other great rock group, they produced a whole that was far more than the sum of its parts. I guess it was partly good directing, since the actors are too young to have "been there and done that". The music and Bandstand scenes were awesome too!
