Hey...who wants to help me study??
![]() Can someone better explain the difference between these two? The book definition makes them sound the same to me. If someone out there has one, maybe you could explain it to me. Thank you. Quote:

I think they are synonyms. Manics are also called bipolar.

From what I understand, if you're Manic Depressive, you'll swing between periods of depression and when you're in the manic phase, you have boundless energy and elation. You feel like you can accomplish anything and everything. I've heard of people taking on huge projects (such as painting the whole house) starting even in the middle of the night and continuing until they get it done without stopping (or until the depression phase kicks back in).
I think in Bi-polar, its depression and then the manic phase isn't as pronounced as it is in the other. You're more agitated, restless, get annoyed and frustrated easily. It's not as "productive" or as happy as the manic state in Manic Depressives. They are closely related though. When I was depressed I used to yearn for a manic phase - anything to get me out of bed and doing something productive. |

The gal I was involved with a few years back described her condition as "bi-polar manic depression," so I guess they can even share symptoms.
All I know is that I got screwed over.

I think manic depression and bipolar are a lot alike....in fact, I often see it written as "bipiolar disorder(also known as manic-depressive)"

i have no clue.. but this one kid who use to live by us made fun of my little brother one day for crying about our grandpa passing away... I wanted to kick his ass and my mom started seriously chewing him out... then his grandma ran up and started screaming "he's bipolar! he's bipolar!"
