In 1986, I had submitted the idea for a Kate & Allie cartoon to Filmation Studios, who hated the idea and sent a terse rejection letter. Some of the animated episodes you'll never see include the following:
* CIRCUS FUN--Kate & Allie join the circus as leotard-clad acrobats; * FLY ME TO THE MOON--Kate's boyfriend, Ted, constructs a spaceship out of junk, sending our heroes and their kids into orbit; * BAT IN THE BELFRY--Allie becomes a vampire, thanks to a magic spell she can't get rid of. * CITIZEN VIGILANTES--The ladies scheme to combat panhandlers and goons while dressed as costumed superheroines--and find out that crimefighting is no walk in the park. The live-action K&As I had written at the time of CBS' cancellation of the series included "SO YOU WANNA BE ON A GAME SHOW", in which the ladies lose an incredible fortune on a "Let's Make a Deal"-type game show and "COFFEEHOUSE DREAMS", in which the ladies pursue careers as guitar musicians at a "Friends"-style coffee shop after their catering business goes kaput. I was only in my mid-twenties and attending Ball State University when I wrote these K&A specs. scripts |
