Default Too Close for Comfort - Season 3 artwork and possible release date

TVShowsonDVD's Gord Lacey posted this today about Season 3:

Quote:
DVDEmpire.com is taking preorders for the third season of Too Close For Comfort. This 3 disc set from Rhino Home Video will include all 22 episodes from the season. The suggested retail price is $39.95, but DVDEmpire has marked it down to $29.96 (25% off). We spoke to Rhino and they said the August 2 date DVDEmpire is listing may be moved, as the date hasn't been locked yet.

It's great to hear that they're already planning season 3. They had better be uncut episodes again. And I love the cover art. That baby is so darn cute

It Sure Would Be Nice! But Seems Like Every Other Tv Show Is Coming Out On Dvd But Too Close For Comfort. I Am Begning To Have My Doubts If Season Three Is Even Going To Be Coming Out Or Not. I Called Rhino One Day To Ask And Thay Said Thay Didn't Know When It Was Going To Be Out.
Well Thay Should Know Something There The One's Who Bring It Out But I Guess We All We Have To Wait And See What Happans. I Will Have The Complete Collection Of Three's Company By The Time Rhino Gets Off There Duff And Decides To Realese More Of Too Close For Comfort.

So what's the update here on more seasons of Too Close on DVD? It's been almost 3 YEARS since a post here!

Too Close is one of the greatest sitcoms ever and there should already been all seasons out on DVD!!

I really wish they would release S3 (and the others), but at this point it would be a shock if they did. I'm grateful for the two that have been released.

sadly, the prospects for a continuation of this series does not look good...

I thoroughly enjoyed seasons 1 & 2 and was REALLY looking forward to season 3.

That REALLY sucks. They should at least release more season in honor of Ted Knight.

This is one of the top 3 to 5 greatest sitcoms EVER and it's a shame that so many people never got to see it because it really doesn't have re-runs.

HOW can see past season 2 if we never got to see them or don't remember them?

to be honest, I didn't even know that the first two sets had been released until over a year after they came out - and good luck finding them in any store.

They really should release the rest of the TCFC series or at least season 3. This show is one of the best shows ever and much better than the crap on today.

The more time goes by and no one picks this up really starts to look like it's not going to happen. WGN-America aired a few episodes last year and that was it. Even Lydia Cornell doesn't know why DLT is holding these so tightly. Why are they doing everything possible to kill this show?

i honestly don't know, but watching just those 4 episodes on WGN really made me see just how great the show was again (I do own the 1st 2 seasons, but I haven't watched them in awhile)

Did you talk to Lydia or something?? How do you know Lydia said that? It would be nice if you had a link to a Lydia interview or something.

SitcomsOnline: It is too bad that the show is not in syndication anymore (however, you can watch four episodes TONIGHT on WGN America from 8-10pm ET/5-7pm PT) and the DVDs were halted after just two seasons, any reason why? Have you heard any new rumblings on at least when we can expect the DVDs to continue? I think you told me before that you guys had shot the extras for the next set or two?

Lydia Cornell: The truth is, I have no idea. It feels as if Don Taffner (DLT Entertainment) has deliberately stopped syndicating our show. It's from a more innocent time in history, which I think would be a nice change right now for younger kids. I mean Saved by the Bell is still on and it sure looks dated! I don't see why they won't syndicate our show on Nick at Nite or some other network.

I heard that Rhino, the division of Warner Home Media that produced our DVDs, folded and was absorbed into the parent company. But I wish they'd release the rest of the DVDs. Another theory is this: Maybe the Ted Knight estate owns such a large percentage of the show that it isn't profitable for Don Taffner or any DVD company to produce it anyway. Maybe the profit split would be unprofitable for them. It's always about money.

Deborah, Jim and I did commentary on Season 3 - which is my favorite season. It's odd that they didn't really promote our DVD release. But what I find odd is that Rhino was only interested in promoting Jim Bullock on all the postcards and giveaways. Deborah and I have been available to do PR and advertising. Here's what's going to happen: once my book comes out (more on this below in our "Lydia Unleashed" story), the movie is launched (Venus Conspiracy) and our show starts filming (based on the movie), Too Close for Comfort will come back.

In May of 2008, Paramount/Viacom called us to do a Too Close For Comfort Reunion Show for Entertainment Tonight. But then they suddenly cancelled the reunion.
