Default New Member but a Longtime Fan.

Hi. I just happened to find this board by searching for LITB sites. I don't remember the show first run, but always enjoyed watching early reruns as a kid in early 70's. Now our cable company finally got TV Land so I have been able to catch up on my old favorite show.

This looks like a nice message board as well. Just thought I would say hi to the members, and will look forward to adding my "2 cents" about our favorite show.

Hi - and Welcome aBOARD!!

Yes, SO is a great site with a lot of great people. Browse around other boards to as there's just about every sitcom, etc. ever made discussed - as well as everyday chit chat!

See ya 'round the boards!

Thanks for the fast welcome TripperFan. Unfortunately, besides LITB, a lot of the shows I like aren't on anymore, like The Honeymooners and McHales Navy.

I am sure anxious for the LITB DVD to come out so we can watch them uncut. Do any of you remember the "introductions" Hugh B. would give on the early episodes? I wonder if they will be included on the DVD?

No problem - you can still discuss The Honeymooners or McHales Navy (both great shows btw) on the general sitcoms board - you'll get hits for sure!

I don't remember Hugh B. doing intros AT ALL!! That would be interesting!
I think pretty much any of the episodes I've seen (even as far back as the 70s) were cut to bits probably.

Welcome to the board Badlandsboy! Maybe with someone new we can get some good topics going here and actually get people to respond some.

Yes, Hugh Beaumont used to voiceover intros on the season 1 episodes. They'd invariably start with, "When you're a child..." and end with, "...and that's our story tonight on 'Leave It to Beaver!'". Then they'd go into the opening credits with the names in cement.

I'd love to see that! I've NEVER seen that done. Makes me wonder if they were only run during the original airing. I've never seen them do it even on Canadian stations who picked up the show.

Do you know if they rent out DVD box sets at all? I'm not sure if I'd want to commit to buying a set, but sure would like to check out a few of the first season's episodes. Beaver was adorable back then...they all were - even Eddy looked "innocent"!

I think you can. I've seen box sets being rented out in Blockbuster before.
