This sitcom is about an upper-middleclass family living in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Ted McGinley stars as Mitch Fuller, a loving husband and father to his wife, Cheryl Fuller (Felicity Huffman) and to their three kids: Hailey Fuller, 19 (Mischa Barton), Justin Fuller, 17 (Jesse McCartney), and Lauren Fuller, 16 (Daniella Monet). Ted is a firefighter. Cheryl is a secretary to the high school principal- Principal Diane Sheffield (Bebe Neuwirth). Hailey is a freshman at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Hailey's new roommate just so happens to be her best friend and cousin, Jenna (Megan Fox). [Jenna's dad is Cheryl's brother.] Justin is a high school junior. Lauren is a high school sophomore. Jenna's dad and Cheryl's older brother, Wayne (Woody Harrelson) is a fellow firefighter (as Mitch) and a good friend of Mitch's. Watch the Sutton-Fuller Families go through life and deal with a series of everyday events.

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
Mitch and Cheryl attempt to make plans for Christmas vacation yet keep getting interrupting with Wayne's new dating traumas, Lauren's attitude (now that they took away her cell phone), Justin's loud music, and Hailey begging and pleading for more money.

Ep2: Ups And Downs:
Mitch and Wayne saved a 9 year old from a burning building and are very proud of themselves. Lauren gets dumped by her sleazy boyfriend after he has found someone else. Meanwhile, Hailey learns Jenna is her roommate.

Ep3: What If:
While repainting the ceilings of the basement, Cheryl falls off the ladder and hits her head unconscious. Cheryl dreams how her life would have been if her and Mitch were rich and had no kids.

Ep4: Car Troubles:
On the way to school, Justin's "pimp'd up" car clunks out and resulting in Justin and Lauren late for school. Justin is upset because his car clunked out and can't restart, as Lauren is upset because she now has to walk to school. Cheryl, Mitch, and Wayne drop by Hailey and Jenna's dorm by surprise--their parents are not happy to see that they had two guys spend the night in their dorm the previous night.

Ep5: The Plumber:
After attempting to fix a leaky faucet several times, Cheryl and Mitch call a plumber, Don (Lenny Clarke) to fix the faucet. Lauren and her friends are hanging out at the house, until they oversee Don's plumber butt. Wayne is still fuming over seeing his daughter in bed with a guy.
