Angry I have an idea for NASA

We could send astronauts to paint the entire moon pink! and maybe write a big message on it like "EMO SUCKS". it'll be so pretty!1 umm to find out how much paint we would need

the radius of the moon is 1079.5 mi, so to find the surface area we calculate 2 · 3.14156535897932384626433 (as much as i know of pi) · 1079.5˛, which would be 7,321,923 square miles, then multiply it by 5280 to convert it to square feet, which makes it 38,659,753,440, then divide it by 400 (the number of square feet a gallon of paint usually covers) so we would need 96,649,383 gallons of pink paint. i say we start a fundraiser to make about a billion dollars to buy all that paint, otherwise we can make bill gates pay for it.

an excellent idea i say - however, I think the numbers may be off:

It would be correct if the moon were a flat circle (area of a circle = pi x r˛), however the moon is a sphere, so the formula would be:
surface area = 4pi x r˛

making your surface area = 42616.9518039038505161273321374652 square miles, which you multiply by 5280 squared to convert to square feet, which makes 1,188,092,429,169.953, divide by 400 sqrfeet/gallon = 2,970,231,072.924 gallons or almost 3 billion gallons of paint.

Assuming that we don't need to use a lot more primer because the moon of made of green cheese that is.

That was going to be my question too - is that one or two coats of paint? Even with those "One Coat" rollers and paints, I find one coat NEVER enough to properly cover - and of course, you've got all those craters to go in and out of. You don't want to run out up there - I don't think Ace Hardware has expanded that far yet!

Well, the only difference is that it would be a grape flavored gumball.

That, but I think guys would like royal purple more than pink too. Maybe we could save pink for the sun (you need a heat resistant paint for that one tho)!

I think we should paint the sun black. Then maybe well get a nice overcast look.
Or it might just make everything look purple like a blacklight does.

I light that blacklight idea!! Oh I wouldn't want it done in full black though - I like my sunshine too much! Thing of the cool colour you'd get painting it pink though - the whole day would be like a nice sunset!!

I saw we should lassoo Pluto, hitch it to the Earth with a chain, and it can be like a trailer for the overflow! We could paint that pink with purple spots!
