Default Does it bother you when cartoons are made over to look more up to date?

I hate this and prefer to see the original cartoons i used to watch like Scobby Doo. I don;t like the 2000 era Scooby do gang and would prefer to see the version of Scooby Doo I watched in 1979. Same thing with Tom and Jerry. I don;t like the more up to date cartoons. Anyone else?

I agree.

I like the original animation better. With Looney Tunes (Bugs, Daffy, Elmer, etc) especially. They were given a modernized look in the 70s and 80s.

Also Tom and Jerry, Woody Woodpecker, The Jetsons were all changed somewhere between the mid 70s and 80s I believe.

As far as Scooby Doo goes, he premiered in 1969 and the show changed a few times up until 1979 when the ultimate horror of Scrappy was introduced.

The earlier the Scooby Doo the better, but after 1978 it was just awful.

I think Scrappy was introduced to bring in more kids to watch the show.

Well Scooby Doo had really started to suck in that damn late 80's-early 90's version when they were like kids & teens. I like Scooby Doo's mid-eighties version, Mysteries & 13 Ghost much better.

Also Tom and Jerry's 1963-1967 cartoons were horrible. And here are some changes. There's no Spike, Tom became a little p#$$y, and Jerry became none other than a queer. I like the 40's, 50's & early 60's versions alot better.

What year of Tom and Jerry had the Woman in the Kitchen?

I like the Scooby Doo's when they had the guest stars like Don Knotts and Harlem Globe Trotters

I liked those episodes too, especially when they had other cartoon characters guest starring, like Jeannie and Babu, Speed Buggy, and Josie and the Pussycats.

I miss the classic Looney Tunes, Woody Woodpecker, Chily Willy the Penguin, Yogi Bear, Pixie and Dixie, ANY Saturday morning cartoons from the 80s, and Voltron.

Give me some Jem! Or some SMURFS!! Or even some Super Friends!!! Don't remake the classics. People are just desperate to make money on memories.

Yes, I, too, hate it when these producers decide to "update" classic cartoon characters by putting in "contemporary" ideas and attitudes.

Hanna-Barbera was especially guilty of this crime...what they did to subsequent remakes of Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Jonny Quest, the Jetsons (I freakin' HATE the '80s episodes!!) and especially "Space Ghost" is unforgivable!!(An aside: While I feel that "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" is a complete waste of airspace, "Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law" is an unqualified HOOT!! At least this update, along with "Sealab 2021" is light years ahead of the originals.)

Ditto with the Looney Tunes (@#*!!in' sell-outs...why the hell would the Tasmanian Devil hang around with geeks like Sylvester and Elmer Fudd, anyway? I wouldn't be caught dead with them fools!! I mean, HONESTLY...)

And don't get me started on "Super Friends". "Challenge" or not, them shows sucked!!

And now, just when you thought things couldn't suck any more, Warner Bros. is giving us "Loonatics"...

FIGHT THE MACHINE!!!

They changed the format of the network. Cartoon Network now runs mostly original cartoons, while their sister channel Boomerang airs all the classic cartoons.
