Okay this might be a dumb question, but I'm curious. Every other day or so, my computer clock seems to slow down and isn't on the right time. Like right now it says it's 12:02, when my watch says 12:12. I'll fix it on the computer and then in a day or two it'll be back to being slow again. Does anyone know how this happens? Because it drives me nuts.

It does that to me all the time. Right now my clock says 12:54am. Last week it was about an hour off. I don't know what causes it.

I heard ages ago that it has to do with the battery in your CPU.

What you're operating system (98 2000 XP)? My mom's 98 does that and I think it is because of the battery.
If you have XP your computer should automaticly synchronize with an Internet time server every week. Assuming your connected to the internet at the next synchronization time (no problem if you have a constant connection). Go to Start > Control Panel > Date and Time click on the Internet Time tab. Then make sure the Automaticly Synchronize with an Internet time server check box is checked. I hope that helps, even though I'm assuming alot. |

yep - there is a small coin-sized battery on your motherboard that keeps the pc clock going. It is pretty common for them to go bad after a few yeas, but it is easy to change them
